You will now have learned an expensive lesson that Inchcape Toyota seem to be very expensive for servicing.
I asked Inchcape Toyota, Burton on Trent for a first service quote on a Yaris Diesel. Their quote £182. Local independent £130. Original supplying dealer £132. (£42 for 4.2 litre oil compared to your £58/4.4 litre, they have "stung" you on that) So for an extra £2 I got the dealer stamp.
Strider's obviously looked at the invoice to determine 7 years and extra works carried out? That is normally an intermediate service on a Toyota.

Invoice says 80,000 service which would make it a more expensive one.

Bit surpised to see someone taking a 7-year old car to a main dealer.

What on earth happened to the engine under trays and front grille that they needed to be replaced?

Unbelievable, what on earth has this poor unfortunate neighbour done to you, does being miserly mean they pay their bills and don't P their money up the wall, sounds OK to me.

It is obvious from that statement that you have never met the Oik.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • Surely anyone would know if their tyres needed changing or not. Do you never check them?

Why is it £102 per tyre?

The invoice shows £70 + vat per tyre?

Who on earth takes a 7 yr car to a main stealer?
  • 70+vat + fitting charge of £60 on above invoice

The under tray of the engine cover was cracked (it was like a long piece of black plastic) I expected £200 tops fitted - I think that amounted to £450 on its own. I do check the tyres frequently and I though the two front tyres may need replacing - surprised at all four but they said they were barely legal?? Whatever that means.

I was quoted £322 for the 80k service and I asked them to fix the black plastic spoiler under the engine. It was held on by two cable ties that I put on two months ago as a temporary measure - should have kept them right?

I am not usually a complainer but feel we should make as many people aware that going to a main dealer does not just mean 'better expertise' it means very high premiums on all parts and labour!

They are Nexen tyres that i can get fitted for £130 less else where. I do think I have been stung as Toyota admitted they didn't confirm the make when they told me I needed new tyres. Assumption is always bad but wouldn't you assume £102 per tyre from a main dealer would suggest a brand tyre?

I wouldnt have assumed anything, I would have asked what type of tyre they were going to fit for that price and then told them to hold off while I checked for prices elsewhere, having said that I would have known before I left the car wether it needed tyres or not!!!

I assume you do check your tyres regularly

What have the dealers margins got to do with anything, If they want a margin of 1000% it is up to them. No one is forced to pay those prices though.

And as others have said who takes a 7 year old car to a main dealer?
