Even deleting your IMEI from the thread will not help if the page is cashed in Google.

You should report it stolen as it should not be possible to re-activate the phone in this country, however it may be sent abroad where it may well work.

I did report it lost/stolen to Orange they couldn't tell me the IMEI - which is really annoying and shows how lax the industry is about phone security. Now I have the IMEI I will tell them, but what is to stop me from giving an incorrect (but correct IMEI) and causing someone hassle? Thus illustrating the lax attitude this industry has to security.

Perhaps they wouldn't tell you the IMEI for security reasons i.e. to prevent someone else trying to get hold of it and then barring your handset. Orange definitely know the IMEI numbers of the phones that I have registered with them!

It didn't stop them from cancelling my old SIM and sending me a new SIM. I beleived the guy when he said he didn't know my IMEI, and considering he knew exactly who he was dealing with, after going through checks and balances, if he had my IMEI he would have told me.

they will noirmally only barr the phone if you can prove your are the legal owner (hard to do if you dont know the imei)
if you blocked it then it doesnt matter if your imei is on here as all anyone can do is clone it to there own phone, which would be no use anyway

If the Old Bill stop some character with your phone they quite often check IMEI's these days as 50% of snatches/robberies involve the theft of a phone.
...and then the window licker said to me...

Considering they sold me the phone, and knew who they were talking to and happily blocked my SIM, I'd expect them to not only know the IMEI, but to also block it. As I said it shows the lax attitude they hold to the whole business of stolen phones..........because it makes them more money to have phones stolen. And I understand it would be possible to make phones even more secure against theft but they refuse to do it.
