Hi,

I am new to the forums but will be contributing alot more, loving this website.

I have a contract up for renewel in the next few days. I am currently with O2. I have been with them for about 5 - 6 years. I want to get the best deal out of them as possible.

Does anyone have any tips or had success of a good deal with them for an upgrade or is it better off getting a new contract altogether.

Thanks :)

    Hi,

    Welcome to MSE! :)

I am in the same position as you and yesterday took out a new contract through Phones4u as it was cheaper than an upgrade by £6 per month, although I cannot port my old number across. I thought £6 extra over 24 months = £144 just to keep my number so I can put up with the hassle of getting a new one lol.

    Please see my thread:

    Thanks.
    Gareth.

At O2 and Voda it is possible to transfer the number within the same network. At other networks it is possible through another network free PAYG sim.

It doesn't mater how long you are with them. I think you have to spend very much with them to get a deal better than new customers get.

Yeah your prob right - more than likely im going to go to their retention team - I have seen a Galaxy S2 I like, on cashback it works out to £18 per month, if o2 are happy to give me the same deal and no more than £20 a month then I will take it otherwise they can say goodbye. I don't really get good reception nowadays with them so I guess its time to let them know that as well.
