Samsung Galaxy S2 or HTC Sensation XE?
Good morning everyone,
As you can see from the title of this thread, I am currently looking at getting a new phone - I'm in the last month of my contract with O2 and haven't had a new phone since Mid-2008 so it's been a long time coming!
I've had a look around and witttled my options down to two - the Samsung Galaxy S2 or the HTC Sensation XE.
I know they are largely similar in dimension etc but was wondering if anyone could give advice and share their opinions of which one to go for. I had a mess about with the Galaxy yesterday and liked the feel of it and I plan to nip out on my lunch today to have a go with the Sensation XE and make a decision as to which one I want to choose.
Thanks for your help.

As is the Sensation XE, both apparently due at the start of next year...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I only have experience of the s2 but it's phenomenal, much better than the iphone4s I was thinking about. Have you found any pricing? I know virgin is cheap if your an xl landline customer0

Have you found any pricing?
Phones4u seem to give the best deals that I can see - phone costs £9.99 with O2 and tariff is £27 per month with 300 minutes, 3000 texts and 500MB data.
I have seen a better one on buymobilephones.net which is the same cost but you get slightly more on the tariff i.e. a few multimedia messages included and the phone is free, but from reading the other thread on here about that site I think I will steer clear.
I'm going to take the print off from the Phones4u website into the shop today and see if they can do me that deal and give me the handset for free (assuming I go for that one of course).0 -
And to be fair, some reviews say the S2 is better, and some say the XE.
One common theme among the reviews is the build of the S2 isn't as good as the XE, as it feels a bit flimsy in comparison.
Likewise, the XE is being dragged down for only having 768Mb of RAM, where as the S2 has 1Gb, but the XE has a 1.5GHz dual core processor to compensate, against the S2's 1.2GHz dual core.
At the end of the day, they are both amazing phones, both have their pro's and con's but you wont be disappointed by either. So I guess it's down to whether you prefer HTC's Sense UI or Samsungs TouchWiz4...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Neither, I find both are far too large for my hands. Yes, the large screen is nice, but you can't operate it with one hand. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

You obviously need bigger hands. I can use my XE fine in one hand, even when sending texts and emails...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

The s2 is plasticky but who cares, a phone that expensive is going to be in a case of some sort anyway and that helps keep the phone light and thin0 -

My XE isn't in a case, it doesn't need to be. And by the time you add on a case, it becomes thicker, negating one of the S2's advantages over the XE...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
