    Just report him.the police wont
    say who you were

not wanting to make light of this in any way
but I can remember years ago me & DH sat in bed
reading and there was a huge bang, that unmistakeable
sound of two cars hitting each other out side our
    flat.

Dashed down stairs and sure enough
ther was a Ford Granada with the front
all smashed in.The bloke driving it was
staggering about not through injury just
totaly blind drunk,he tried to drive off.
My little 5ft 3ins hero stood in front of this
blokes car refusing to move, the drunken bloke
got out all 6ft + of him and with the help of
neighbours they kept him there until
    the police arrived.

This is a measure of this guys mentality
when the police turned up,they breathalised
him,it was way over the limit, his reply to this was
that little fella over there, just jumped out and
grabbed me as I was taking an evening stroll.
Saying this was my car and I was the driver,
well its not even my car,I`ve never seen it before
ever ! Unlucky for him that the house opposite
they had been having a dinner party and the 14
guests who were on the point of leaving,
were all doctors and had witnessed the
whole thing, including his friend who had ran off.

It turned out this car belonged to the friend
who did indeed run off,the police caught up
with him later. The bloke got done for a whole
string of offences including drink driving as did
his friend. Also as the police pointed out this was
a brand new car that while it was fully insured
was not covered for drunken friends to drive
and they would be making sure his insurance
company were well informed as to the circumstances.

But the daftest thing of all,how far were they going ?
to a house round the corner in the next street !

Just report because think how awful you would feel
if this bloke had an accident and anyone was hurt
    or worse still killed.

Well Dazzieboo. I stand corrected and no this is not a wind up as the OP said so. I was brought up differently to most of you guys out here. I was taught to help people rather than get them in more trouble than they already are on.

How many times do you hear on the news or read the papers about repeat offenders. Is a matter of fact that our justice system does not work well and fails exactly what it's suppose to do
    re-educate and deter criminals.

    Given the facts now
that this guy has been talked to by many, then you are right in shopping him. Next week, I will make it clear that if he drinks and intends on driving, then I will have no other choice than inform the cops. when he comes back to his senses he will thank you for looking having his best interest at hearth. It's your choice what to do now. I personally will not grass someone I know or on speaking terms with. I will gladly shop some criminal to the cops because i don't know them and not therefore unable to speaK some sense to them

I think part of the problem is that the OP fears retribution from this man and that's why they want to go down the anonymous route - if it were a friend or family member then I agree, trying to educate them is much better but if someone will not listen then the only ethical option is to take the judgement out of their hands imo. The OP may end up saving his life and he'll never know because he thinks he's invincible and in control when he quite clearly isn't. Personally I think there are times when intervention is the best thing to do anyway and if you can take a drunk driver off the road then you should.
  • another way to do it is with a different sim card on your mobile and throw it away afterwards. there are always the free sim card offers on the freebie sites or for a few pence on ebay. depending on whether your phone is locked to a certain mobile operator but you can normally get orange,o2,virgin and t-mobile free.

hsgamboy, no doubt you will be very pleased to hear the update.

The sporting event has now been held and this man drunk 11 pints of Fosters in a space of 7 hours and also had a couple of spirits as well, he left the venue in his car after telling people he had a lift and drove off down the road. Someone passed him on his way and was horrified and called the police, so knowing I had already spoken to Crimestoppers and this new evidence to the Police, we waited for the report he had been stopped. But he wasn't, he drove all the way home, drunk and got away with it again.

I don't know when this event is coming again, but when I find out, I will repeat my course of action, that is providing he hasn't been stopped by then, killed someone by then or even killed himself.

This just beggars belief. What is the point of the many graphic adverts (presumably paid for by us) trying to educate and shock us into not speeding/drinking when driving when the blatant law breakers are blatantly ignored by the police.

It just confirms the general belief amongst the public that our 'safety' on the road is policed by the stealth tax speed cameras, which will not necessarily catch this kind of death-wish maniac.

I would just say, Dazzie, definitely don't give up, and keep trying. I would also be tempted to add that if he does cause an accident you will publicise your report.
