Actually, I can do an oil change and have done in the past. I cannot undo this sump plug.

So pay a man who can then!

I called National and they quoted £35 for normal 10w40 oil and £52 for 5w40
    Sounds reasonable to me!

I'm sorry, what has this got to do with the drain plug? Do you have a problem?

Book it online, it's cheaper, I just input a 306 registration and got this.

    Your vehicle is PEUGEOT 306 16V (1761cc) (1997-2001).

Price based on supplying 5 litres of oil as your vehicle requires.

    Mid-range

Castrol Magnatec 10W40 Semi Synthetic (includes oil filter)
Standard oil for most modern petrol and diesel cars

    £30.60

Buy now to receive your online discount

TBH, you're not going to get it much cheaper and the oil and filter will set you back about £20 for comparable oil.

But I need a vacuum pump and storage tank....

No, no, no....You buy a replacement sump plug that drains by simply attaching the hose that you buy with it.

Future oil changes then just involve screwing the hose on and sticking hose into a tub and drain the lot out.

The pump and tank is an option for professional outfits who do tonnes of them per day.

Granted you need to remove the plug first, but then will never need to ever again.

I gave you a link to enter you Reg No. to get a price and you ignored it - plonker!

What are you trying to undo it with? A sump key or spanner?

Be aware that many sumps are made of softer aluminium and it is very easy to knacker the thread on the sump. That will set you back far more than a change as you will either need a new sump or pay to have it helicoiled.

    So proceed with caution....

Who on earth would trust one of those "Hose Drain plugs"? a little bit of dirt gets trapped under the seal when you drain, and bingo.

Don't Peugeot have a left hand thread on their sumnp plugs?

(Just teasing). Its always annoying when you can't get a nut or bolt undone. I was there on a towball a couple of years ago. The garage used a 4-ft length of scaffold in the end!!
