And the Dorothy Perkins account they offer discounts for card holders. Its usually paid off in one or 2 months (maxed out at the moment as they had 20% off deal and I needed new clothes for my new job.)
I understand what you are saying, but you need to get out of the "Buy now, pay later" mindset. 2 months interest at 30% makes the bargain, not so much of a bargain!! You'd be better off keeping the catalogue, but again, their prices are inflated anyway and you could probably buy it cheaper somewhere else. Catalogues were how I started my debt spiral, doesnt feel like you are really spending money, so easy to get into!!
What do YOU think you can do to change your situation? I think you are doing a good job of budgeting, but unless you want to be earning the same amount & paying out the same over the next 3 years without a life in between you need to have some ideas or ways of changing your situation......0 -

krayzechick wrote:My mobile - im currently only 6 months into my current contract. Its £25 a month with O2 but I ALWAYS go over my 500 free txts. Ive tried getting that raised by no luck. Looked into the Orange Dolphin plan and for £35 a month you get unlimited txts!! Even if for 6 months I can run to the 2 contracts, its still less than what I'm paying now (I can reduce the O2 one to £20 a month).
just to let you know if you do change to one of the 'animal' contracts on orange they are now charging 0.009p for delivery reports. so if you already go over 500 texts that's a definite £5 extra on the bill. make sure you go into the message settings on the phone and turn them off

You are doing the right thing
This is the first step of a long journey but you will get there. However, if things really are getting to much to juggle them all as a very last resort with debts over 15K you could see if an IVA would help you. This runs for a period of 5 years then you are totally debt free. With credit card interest and stuff you could be repaying a seamingly low balance for 20 years odd.
You are NOT alone thou so please dont beat yourself up about this. Stay strong.0 -

Since there is room in her budget to change things, I think an IVA would be a very last resort - I owed more than the OP by far and managed, plus she is young and only has herself to support, so I dont necessarily agree with you on that one!

sorry, you all replied whilst I was replying!!
I have no money allocated for social life because... I havent got one! I dont drink/smoke/go out. I rarely buy new clothes either. From my post above you can see that I dont have much spare time. I normally spent it with the boy.
Not really an option to not pay the rents. Ive already skipped a few months payment, its not fair on them either. Mum had to use her savings to buy a new car so i could afford one (long story!!)... all this money goes back into her savings. I finish paying in August.
Birthdays etc I save up my nectar points and clubcard points and advantage card points. I'm good at getting cheap pressies and make a lot too.
Gym membership is pretty much my only luxury. The area is very rough and I dont fancy walking or cycling in the area. Please can I keep this?? :A Also I go with my best friend so this is our equivalent of spending a night in the pub.
Interest on my dotty p card is £1.30 a month. Doesnt really affect the total that much when I pay off over 2 months. Especially when I save the 20%. I would like to keep it open, but perhaps look at paying it off in one go. Catalogue I dont spend that much on. I think in the past 6 months Ive only bought 2 duvet covers at £12 for the pair, 2 bra's at £15 each (only place other than debs I can find that fit!!
) and a pair or shoes at £7!
Car Tax is £60.50 per 6 months, or £110 for a year. I pay £11 more a year. Hopefully I can save a bit more to pay for a year, but until I start my new job this wasnt an option really.
Driving - This is the cheapest option. If I drove all the way to work it'd be twice the distance, and I'd have to pay car parking in the town centre (£10 per day). P&R halves my driving distance, means I dont sit in traffic burning fuel (and the bus uses the bus lanes!) and I dont have to pay parking charges!!! I get a multi rider too, 10 journeys for the price of 8. With regards to the boyfriend, we take it in turns to travel to see each other. Its still £10 in petrol though. When we're together and Im driving around everywhere he gives me money towards petrol costs. (he doesnt drive.) and no, I wont consider getting a boyfriend closer to home

Sorry for the bullets comments, i'm trying to go through all your comments!!
