birmingham new street station.
is it very big? many entrances ?
going to a concert at hmv institute brimingham and its due to finish at 10pm.
last train home is 10.22pm
google maps shows its 15 minutes from event to train station.. (seem to have to walk all the way around the building as seems like a car park or something ??)
just wondering before book train if its going to be easy to get the train once get there..
idea is when going look for the best route etc but was just getting rough idea if would be ok..
birmingham city football play at home on the event day and so 15,000 -20,000 people would all be leaving as we would be arriving so was hoping not to drive (can have few cheeky vodkas also then lol)
thanks

It's reasonably big, with either 2 or 3 entrances. However all the platforms are downstairs and it's easy to get to them. Sometimes on big events they take down the barriers to help the flow of people. There are big screen in the main entrance that tell you which platform you need and then you head in and down to the right one.
This map may help
Enjoy!
ps
I would personally advise leaving before the end of the gig as it will be tight to get there and onboard train in 22mins when 15mins is walking!* Rainbow baby boy born 9th August 2016 *

thanks..
a taxi from the event to the train station may be an idea. gives us a bit extra time..
will get the platform details etc when we arrive and check the best entrances also..
been trying to do google street maps to see why it sends the route all teh way round the buildings which seems to add loads to the route..

It's simple, you wont need a taxi.
When you come out of the HMV institute, head to the massive main road by, it's 3 lanes or so each way. turn right so you are walking up toward the bullring. when you get to the bullring, go up the right hand side of the church, you will pass a handmade burger company, and a nandos, and walk round to where you can go up the steps between the 2 halves of the bull ring centre. go up through the middle and when you come out at the top and the area opens out (you'll see the brown bull ahead and left) in front of you will be an alley that disappears down. head down there, and follow the pavement round to the right, and it takes you into new street.
A tax has to take a bizarre route to get you to the station and is a waste of money, its a 10 minute walk at most0 -

Your transfer window is too tight, you maybe better off checking in to a Hotel and getting a train the next day, you have to factor in that even if it were a 10 minute walk (which it will be more) you won't get out of the venue in no time at all, PLUS, you need to be on the train before the door locks, and allow time to transfer from the station entrance to the platform.0 -
thats brilliant cheers.. will go that way on the way to familiarize the way.
tried few times on google maps but it just wouldnt go that way (maybe because pedestrianised?? )0 -
It will be very tight but I think if you walk quickly / run then you will make it. Here's a map showing the route from the main road and then through the bull ring (basically the route wba31 has described, though I would go left around the church).
Where it looks like you are walking through the rotunda, you are actually passing down the left of it through a fairly narrow passageway that seems to lead no where.

I think your leaving it a bit close.. What if it takes you more than 10 minutes to leave the venue or it over runs a couple
od minutes?? It will be a sprint or you may actually still be there when the trains gone.
Unless you leave early.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
