The red dotted route, is the only alternative pedestrian route from Digbeth (without being pedantic) , the Bull Ring Shopping Centre is not open at that time (and even if it were, you would not gain any time to walk through it)

thanks, thats one of the routes suggested (other was was same but other way round the church). tbh think the "bullring" referred to does not actually mean go threw the shopping center but just pointing out where to go0 -

Yes, the 1st route is not showing the crucial part of Digbeth (the venue is more at Deritend) , I work near Queens Drive and the walk to the Church takes around 10 mins as I visit the markets
Woops, forgot to add, you cannot acces the station via Queens Drive, as Stephenson Tower is being demolished, and you can acces the station via Stephenson St via the original route

My main concern is that the concert's unlikely to finish on time. So would you leave early? If so, why not just leave at 9:50 and leave plenty of time to get to the train?0

if have to leave early will do, ive booked the train now so wont have a choice lol.
was originally wondering if i even had a chance of making it. and best ways to go.
am going to arrive early and check the platforms, routes, time the route there also.
then can play it by ear as they say..
mind, if the daughter carries on being a nuisance il rip the tickets up and not even bother... haha0 -

What you could do is 'walk' the route via google maps street view, that will give you a guestimate idea, as mentioned in an earlier post, if the weather was not so cold and windy, I would walk the route and video it for you, I suppose you could get a taxi to the station from the venue?0 -

i tried google maps originally but it wouldnt go the bullring ( precinct what ever it is lol) way, and only round the long street ways.
no worries on trying it, thanks anyway, as i said ive booked an earlier train so will test it all on the way.
did mention a taxi but apparently they have to go long way also and with not knowing exactly when it will finish, etc be hard to book one.
prehaps driving would have been easiest but birmingham was playing at home and so thought the area would be swamped at 5pm when i would be arriving as it looked fairly close to the ground lol.. (ok maybe a cheeky drink or two helped sway towards the train)0 -

I'm sure there are some bluenose's that are reading the thread and can tell you how long to walk from the groud to the station, although the ground is much further away, but does pass the final stage of your route, shame you didn't know if there were later trains on due to the match being played that evening
the photo of cafe rouge looking towards the church is the only missing part from google street view, as it is a van that drives round to records the street view.0 -
just wanted to say thanks to all that replied..
turned into a bit of a a mix up to start with but all ended up great..
got there and ended up in the bull ring shopping centre (which i have to add is an amazing place) and so threw my map and timing out the window as hadnt a clue where i was. by some miracle i ended up at st marys church and remembered i needed to be there so was ok
on the way back though was perfect. concert finished at 9.45 so was earlier than expected, was out for 9.47 and the route back was as listed earlier and took me straight to the station. got there at 10.02 so took us exactly 15 minutes. just in time to spend 30p(what ever happened to spend a penny saying) to use the toilet and get on the platform to find the train come in early..
as the last train it was ram packed and made of an interesting journey home. alcohol had certainly played a part in a fair fews nights by the sounds of them lol..
thanks again all for helping..

BIG TUT!!!
Is that the bet you can do.. :A
Dont write a book will you, We all wanted to hear about your battles to get to the station on time.
Left the venue 10 minutes after the train left but met a man on the way called himself the doctor. Said he could get you to the train on time.
Charges you £10 and actually manages it..
Strange blue box, Appeared spacious from the outside but once inside the smell of stale minty airfreshners and old beaded seat covers tell another story.
Badge on the back says Avensis and the sign on the roof says TIM's TAXI's.
