  • Begging letters from Private Parking Firms are just junkmail. Every week you get requests for money coming through your letterbox and I am sure you have learned to ignore them. No one will arrive on your doorstep and telephone calls can be ignored. Don't be scared, get very, very angry because this scum is trying to scam you out of your hard earned cash.

Because it is easy money, MP's are bent crooks and have an eye on the cash source..

  • The government is in on this nasty scam. DVLA break the spirit of the Data Protection Act by giving the scammers the details of their victims for £2.50 a pop. The collusion by a government agency gives a veneer of legitimacy to this sordid business. Do not expect the Westminster trough feeders to do anything but act in their own interests.

  • Ive been fined by Elite Management services for being 7 minutes late back to our car in cannock multi storey car park. The parking attendant must have watched my husband get to the car 4 minutes late..realize he didnt have the keys and run back. He arrived back to the car 7 minutes late only to get £125 parking fine reduced to £75 if paid within the week. We were so furious we packed up and went home. My husband wanted me to pay it so I sent a cheque which I have since cancelled. Ive written to the local mp and complained to the council, who just passed the buck. The mp hasnt bothered to respond. I appealed the notice (which is to them by the way) and got turned down with camera footage showing my car parked 7 minutes late. Im worried about the threatning letters and calls Im going to get but Im so annoyed I feel totally ripped off. Why cant something be done to stop this I think its disgraceful and feel very bitter about it.

Yep, it's a scam. Ignore it. Read the stickies and other threads:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

The letters are no biggie when you read the top thread, find 'your' letter-chain and then just play a game of 'PPC snap' as each matching threatogram arrives. Dunno why you complained to the Council about a fake ticket from a private firm? It's not a real PCN.

Oh and for goodness' sake show your husband the Watchdog clip linked on another top sticky thread 'welcome, please read before posting'.

    HTH

P.S. on a forum you would rarely get advice from everyone within 2 hours let alone 2 minutes, so I was a bit surprised to see you post a second time so soon!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

As stated by others, just ignore them. If they do send threatening letters or continuously make calls, they are harassing you and breaching the Protection From Harassment Act (1997). The company have to prove who the driver was (as it is Contract Law - a contract is deemed to be in existence between the driver and the landowner). Do not help them with this. Without driver information, they can not continue to persue the demand for payment.
  • sounds dodgy, id ignore all letters and hope for the best.
  • There is no need to 'hope for the best'. Nothing will happen, this is a scam and you can rest assured that most people who offer advice on this forum have faced down these scammers and eventually the silly threatmail stops arriving. Oh, its is NOT a fine but a speculative invoice issued by a bunch of pondlife chancers.
