Newbie here - Parking Charge Notice

Received a parking charge notice today issued by Elite Management Midlands Ltd - issued several minutes after the expiry time on the parking ticket. Charge £125 reduced to £75 if paid within seven days. The car had been parked on a multi storey car park used by shoppers , the were very few vehicles parked up so plenty of spaces. I was only a few minutes late got held up in the bank. The ticket is very convincing and I was ready to pay but for the reviews on this forum - should I just ignore the notice I would be grateful for advice

Yep, just ignore and wait for the loo paper to arrive in the post, put it in a draw... and then a few years or more after your last letter, you will tidy out said draw... and it will make you smile! :)

Basically the more you read here and elsewhere the more confident and determined you'll be to ignore them, and all the subsequent threatening letters. I assume you've found the watchdog clip - if not, its in the sticky welcome thread, also there is a good article from the Guardian which is worth reading if you've not done so already, you find the link near the beginning of the Park right sticky thread (tried to post the link but I'm not allowed as I'm a newbie around here:))
  • Thank you all for the advice, after much deliberation I have decided to ignore all that comes throu the post - I am still nervous and will worry but thats me. The fact that they want £125 for being several minutes over on the ticket is outrageous. I will keep you updated with any letters etc that they send. Has anyone else had the experience of dealing with this company?

It's precisely because £125 is outrageous, that it is also completely uneforceable, as any court would see it as a penalty rather than the actual value of the loss incurred. The more outrageous it is, the easier it is to ignore them.

We have all faced down the scammers and had a good laugh at their silly threatmail. It may be a worry at first but they will go away in search of a more gullible victim. This is a scam and their charges have no legal validity. If you lose your nerve and pay them, you will always regret wasting money that could have been put to better use. Money is too tight to waste on scammers.
Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!
  • I am also in the position of having received a PCN from this company last weekend. It was issued 9 minutes after my ticket expired. A friend of mine was also parked with a ticket at exactly the same time and yet she avoided a PCN. It is the same charge £75/£125. I can't help but feel nervous about receiving threatening letters but certainly helps to read and find I am not going to be alone. How long is it likely to take for the letters to stop? Just to confirm, it WILL only be letters won't it?

should just be threat o grams, but depending if you are ex/direc or have put your phone number on form when obtaining car tax on line, then if you have you could be pestrered on the phone,,the best advice is to completely ignore,, if they do happen by chance to obtain your phone number tell them simply this,,,THE DEBT IS DENIED,,,say nothing other than if they continue to phone you will report them to office of fair trading and that this call IS being recorded,,,do not engage in any other dialogue whatsover, do not give your name to them,,,talk over them if need be,,,but having said that if they cannot get your phone number,,just IGNORE 100%,,all their threats,,if you do it will stop sooner ,,if they can correspond with you it will carry on,,but hey,,its only a game,,nothing can/will happen to you,,but i know i have been where you are,,untill the butterflys go away you will worry,,,WORRY NOT ,, just come back here for advice anytime,,remember,,,IGNORE ,,if by small chance they phone,,,THE DEBT IS DENIED,,no dialogue.relax now, chill prepare for christmas.you have committed no crime,,they wont do court,,as they know and we know,,,now you,,,they will lose hands down.as at the end of the day its just a scam.now the secret get those butterflys to fly in formation then you will be worry free.
