How many hours do you have CH on per day in winter

Used to have CH come on for an hour in morning and same in evening. This isn't going to cut it now though - how many hours do you have heating on for per day?

Setting it by thermostat is better.

You may not have ever been in arrears but how big is your DD? Last person I have argued this point with had a direct debit for over £120 and actually thought that this was saving money.

Fifty minutes in the morning (5.40am - 6.30am) and ninety minutes in the afternoon (4pm-5.30pm).

If it's brass monkeys, we'll put it on override for 30 mins or so. Mainly we just put another jumper on.

I have my Gas CH on from 6 A.M. to 10 P.M. every day, when I am at home (most days) with the room thermostat set at 22 centigrade.

My D/D for gas is £58 / month, but then I have fully insulated my loft, cavity walls and have good double glazing.

Mine has been on for four hours from late afternoon till now it's off.
Hall thermostat set to 12 and the lounge is 16. I have only just started putting my heating on these last couple of days for more than one hour.

Am amazed at people who have it on all day from early morning until night! I live in an old chilly house, where I am all day, with no double glazing or insulation, and even in the coldest winter I never NEED it on for more than an hour or two. My dad still lives in a house with no central heating and just one wood fire, and he always feels toasty, so maybe I've been hardened. :D
