Well what service have you ordered and paid for? If there's already a dial tone on it, then you don't need a reconnection.
If a recon, a week is feasible for OR. But with TT, anything is possible...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Just thought I would share what I just posted on Facebook about Talk Talk. I took the service because of the deal from Martin's recomendation on TV and this site. Don't imagine for one moment that this is a dig against the website or Martin as he looks at deals not service, but take my advice pay a little more and do not use talk talk:
"Let me tell you a story about Talk Talk ...
I switched to Talk Talk for my broad band, to save cash as advised by Martin Lewis.
Great price, easy to order, free Tesco voucher, setup within 2 hours .... All Good.
HOWEVER, the cancelled my old broadband at 11.30am Friday, I waited 2 hours then called, may take 4 hours, fine. Called after 4 hours, may take till midnight. Called at Midnight, technical issues will be Monday. Called Today 4 days after they cut off my old broadband, all is working fine but takes up to 14 days for the line to provision itself and connect correctly. This is Rubbish!!! Sky and all my previous providers took about 20 minutes.
My Advice Friends, never use talk talk, they lie, they have no technical knowledge, they put you on hold four hours, transfer you around departments and tell you want they think a stupid non technical pleb would need to hear, not too metion cut you off when they can help no more, they have no english call centres they are based in India and South Africa. Besides several promises they have never called me to advise of delays or update me on the status.
The only good point is that despite my obious rath, bad language and superior knowledge at midnight last night the guy I was speaking to in India never once stopped apologising, lost his cool or good manners which just made me more irritated.
To Recap, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER USE TALK TALK IF YOU WNAT ANYTHING TO WORK....":mad:0 -
They also have a Philippines call centre.
If you are migrating to TalkTalk LLU then this requires physical work in the exchange - it's not just a software change to redirect billing. But it still shouldn't take more than a couple of hours tops.0 -
Not spoken to that one, Yet!
Apparently they have done all the exchange work, the line is live with no errors.
It takes 14 days to let the line "Settle Down" and configure itself to the best configuration, not my words. This is total B*llSh*t!!!!
I manage a team of network engineers, if once a DSL line was live and tested it took them more than 20 minutes to configure it I would sack them.
Either the router is broken or the line is not live!!
Unfortunaletely the technical department has no technical knowledge, the guy actually said I knew more than him then went back to his script. Still not live by the way..0 -
So why, as a network engineer with 'superior knowledge', did you come to choose TT, with their dire reputation, as your broadband provider? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi Ian,
In terms of the bedding in period of 14 days it sounds as if you have gone live on IPstream services (supplied via BT WHolesale) which has a "traninign period" of 14 days while the line profiles vary to find the optimal blaance between speed and stability.
However if you are connecting to TT equipment at the exhcange (LLU) and dont pay extra for your BB then the 14 day period isnt applicable and if the line isnt working after the go live date this needs to be investgated as a fault.
You advised there is a suspicion the router might be at fault. have you tested an alternative router on the line?
Regards
Mark
