Read previous post ;) even if I did have them at 10 shots a set of duracells I'd actually expect around 5 from rechargables which would be unacceptable.

However it seems that it doesn't turn out like that anyway....

I have a similar Vivitar camera to this one, it lasts for ages with 2700 mha rechargeables, the Duracells are just to get people started and are not really suitable camera usage.

I have the same with my Fuji digital camera. Duracell batteries drain really quickly but the rechargeables that came with it last much, much longer.

This isn't a great deal to be honest, Superdrug had a 5mp Vivitar with 3x optical zoom for about £30 last year. Can't remember the rest of the specifications but the photos it takes are amazing. None of the problems that are described with this and batteries last longer than in most digital cameras.

Just because this is 6MP doesn't make it good as has been stated a few hundred times. I suppose it might just about do the job if you want something you can afford to lose but even then there must be something better out there.

i got one of these and to be honest they aint all that good.

the battery life is shocking as well. Any ideas if you can get a proper re-chargable battery pack for it? As there seems to be a DC adapter input on the camera?

At the end of the day though its a cheap £25 camera that you dont mind losing at things like beaches etc.

I must admit the battery consumption on this camera took me by suprise aswell, and in my quest to resolve this problem I got myself this

£14.99 from Maplins and I must say I am extremely impressed. It comes with 4 rechargeable batteries aswell so I always have spare batteries in case it runs out

Just to add my two-pence worth. Agree with the comments about these not being 'Top Quality' it really is worth spending a little more to get a camera that is going to take good quality pictures. I think most people without experience look at the results from these cheap cameras and find them perfectly acceptable but when you compare them with the results from a big brand camera there is a very noticeable difference. I used to get excellent results from my first camera ( a 2 MP Canon A60 ) and these photos are still perfectly acceptable, to my now improved eye!, even though I've upgraded to an S2 ( which incidentally is 5 MP but would still knock the socks off this 'top quality' 6 MP model ). This has nothing to do with camera snobbery it's just a fact, photography is all about the lens, to get good photos you need a good lens and you won't find a good lens on this I'm afraid. You can still get a good camera on a budget. I couldn't afford to spend a lot of money on cameras for my children so bought two cameras from Fuji's refurb shop, they currently have several models for a little under £50, these models may not have every feature going but most importantly they do what they do well! Really worth spending a few quid extra on a camera that will see you good for years.

I bought the Vivitar Vivicam 5190 for £25 today in Superdrug. Great birthday present for DD (soon to be 12). I don't mind at this price if it gets dropped or lost.
