Ok we've heard you - go and pay 300+ for your "Top Quality" digital Camera.

I have just bought myself a 6 mega pixel digital camera with 2.4" colour LCD screen, 4 x Digital Zoom and 3 x Optical Zoom for £25 - saving myself £55

You can tell someone isn't a photographer when they boast about their Digital Zoom :)
  • Roney,

I feel you've offered a cheap product here that in my opinion is probably well worth 25 notes for someone on a budget. I paid £30 at Christmas for a 3.2M pixel no optical zoom for my young son to "mess about with". Obviously the results speak for themselves but that was all my budget could afford and I wasn't expecting a digital Nikon SLR for £30.

I reckon for the right person this represents a Billy bargain, my son would love this over his naff £30 one from ASDA. Words like "Top Quality" can be subjective as I feel is the case in question here. 6Mega pixel and a zoom lens for this amount of cash is possibly top quality, now an unbranded 6MPixel camera for £200 might not be top quality. If you got 2 years out of this camera and shot 2,000 pics and 500 of them were fairly good it could in my opinion be described as a quality product.

Don't be offended mate - you keep posting the bargains!
  • disagree jamie. I have the D50, D80, F70 (amongst others) and a Vivitar 4 Megapixel I bought from Superdrug last week just for fun. Actually its a really good little camera and takes great snaps. Definitely value for money.

I bought the vivitar camera from superdrug last year for about £30.. and i have to agree .. its bloody great .. its actually better than my £100 kodak.

Dont you think someone would have sued currys already if this wasnt really 6mp.

No, Bambers is correct. This is common on the cheapy cameras and is called interpolation.

These cameras are re-branded Vivitars. I bought a 5 megapixel Premier camera from Tescos over 12 months ago for under £30 and the same camera, branded as a Vivitar was selling for close to £100 in Asda.

This link shows the Vivitar version (Vivicam 6320)

This deal is red hot. DOUBLE FACT.

    Thanks OP.

I think he meant to say "spare". But maybe if you put it on a strap you could use it as an effective weapon to wack people on the head.

Seems to me there is alot of camera snobbery around this thread.
This is not a high end camera!
This is near the lower end of the scale and has all the bells and whistles.

BUT and its a big BUT, the ops has posted an absolute bargain
If you've only got pennies to spend or need a camera to forget about with the kids on the beach, then it's a GRABBIT and well posted.

I've been on the beach and heard daddy having a fit 'cos little johnnys cop't hold of his Nikon mega bucks (out of date in 2 minutes) camera.

Keep it real - it's a great deal for £25 pounds.

Carrie, I agree that its a good buy for somebody who would like a cheap camera, for ebay pics, or for their kids to use.
However, I think the other posters were correct in giving reservations about it being a "top quality" camera. To me it seems the OP is taking the "constructive criticism" a bit personally.

People are not dissing it as a waste of £25, they are just warning buyers that this is no Sony 6MP equivalent.

People always go on about Pixels, but its not just about pixels. Before digital cameras, you would pay anything from £5 to £10k for a normal camera, and none of those had pixels.
Nowadays the average consumer has no idea that the lens for instance is critical. People pay hundreds for their lenses. All digital cameras have different quality lens, and the same goes for the processor etc…

Its like saying you have a 2 litre Subaru Turbo, and I have a 2litre Daewoo. Doesnt mean that if you can get the Daewoo cheaper that you have an equivalent spec.

I think everybody is trying to help, and if nobody gave the negatives for a deal, people would end up buying everything on this subforum....which is a LOT.
    Be nice
