  • Hi Standingtall,

My plan was to make a token payment in January and bank 700 quid for a rainy day but my advisor at Payplan talked me out of it. Said it's best to start as soon as possible. She also told me to make all my full payments this month too. Until I told her I couldn't as I'd used 500 to pay of overdraft and a payday loan. So she then said token payments would do but to start paying into the plan 1 January.

Now I'm worried about the "what ifs!". I do have a very good FIL and BFF to fall back on "if" but would rather not.

  • Hi BlushingRose! :hello:

Well you gave me a fright with your first SOA, I thought you owed nearly a million pounds!

Just reading through the thread, it started to occur to me, what had you spent the money on? I know you said you pay for groceries etc on your credit card now, but looking at your SOA you would have had enough to cover the bills plus have some luxuries too.

No need to go into detail here if you don't want to, I just thought that if you'd bought material things, clothes, DVDs, etc, that perhaps you could sell anything you no longer need on ebay to get a bit of money together to help you start paying the debt off when you have sorted out the DMP?

Good luck with your debt-free quest, you've had loads of fab advice, so I'm sure you can get on top of this. :)

Well done BlushingRose, you're on your way to debt freedom. And I think Mr BR's metaphor about jumping into a river just about sums it up nicely. Just remember if the phone calls start, don't be browbeaten into offering any payments without clearing things with CCCS first. Just say you are obtaining advice re sorting out your debt situation and will keep them informed, and once you get a reference number for a DMP from CCCS you can just refer all callers and send all letters on to them. Keep posting!

Minor point really but have you looked at Sam Knows? http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search
This will tell you what providers supply to your area - I know Talktalk are rolling out to a lot of exchanges for LLU (infact a lot more than BT...)

    You'll get there! :)

I hadn't, because I know that the only provider we can use for telephone and broadband is our current supplier.
I have just checked, though, and I'm afraid I was right.
