Not sure if you have already tried this, but try deleting the password in the router and re-entering it again. Remember to click Save/Apply.
It may have inadvertently been changed previously and that is why you may not be able to connect.
Done that. But crazy crazy, the Kindle has just recognised the router and connected but still no joy at all with the phone.
I really do appreciate your help and time everyone.Change is here to stay0 -
Try deleting the existing Wi-Fi connection that the phone has remembered (NETGEAR?) and try to connect to it again. If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0

You got any other routers lying about where you can unscrew their antenna and screw it in kace of your current one?
Suddenly they are both working, a couple of days ago I positioned an external Integral caddy with a Hitachi sata drive inside next to the router on the top of my desktop case. I have just moved it, could this have been the problem, surely not.Change is here to stay0 -

I have clicked WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key) will that be ok, my Kindle is now asking for a password, will that be the original one or the encryption password?Change is here to stay0

WPA2 is better however, it will be the password that you typed in the Passphrase box not the router config password 'password'. If you didn't change it, it should be the same.If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0

These are my options, which should I choose
Disable
WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)
WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)
WPA2-PSK(Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 with Pre-Shared Key)
WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK
WPA-802.1x
WPA2-802.1x
WPA-802.1x+WPA2-802.1x
