The letter said this, i can't post it so i'll have to type it.

As part of the DWP, we receive referalls of unpaid Social Fund Loans from job centre plus offices around the country when deductions cannot be made from benefits. Job centre plus continues to own the debt as the money is repayable to them; however, the responsibility to recover the outstanding loan is transferred to Debt Management. We may in turn, refer the debt on to private debt collection agencies outside of the DWP when we have not been successful in recovering the loans.

The limitations Act 1980 does not deny the Department the right to attempt to recover balances. However, the Department is limited in that we cannot pursue a case through civil proceedings where the debt is over 6 years old and there has been no acknowledgement of it by the customer. This does not mean that we can no longer request repayment of the balance in writing or that we are unable to refer the case to Private suppliers for recovery.
Please contact us to discuss repayment

Anyone have any advice? I don't recal all the debts they are claiming and i was living in shared houses at the time

Well how do i stop them from calling me and sending letters then?

If they're screwed then why pass it on to a debt collection company?

have they actually given you details of the disputed loans? specifically proof that you took them out. Presumably you would have had to sign something to obtain them in the first place. The letter they sent you did not address this issue.

Really the DWP are being very unfair here. And not just on you! They are asking iQor, who operate under an OFT licence, to break OFT guidance.

when i called DWP they gave me details of 9 different loans taken out and dates.
They just said they have put all the loans together and are collecting them all as one
I have not seen any proof they are mine, should I ask for proof? if so from Debt company or DWP?
Thanks for taking the time to reply
