Have you had rats? Hope she got rentokill in or something equivalent. They are not easy to get rid of. We had them in our last rented flat, the LL from hell there.... must be related to yours! WE had same problems as you with them and they screwed us out of our deposit and the Estate Agent was next to useless! Told them next time they rent properties they should actually bother to look at them first!!!

I would tell you to get environmental health involved with damp, rats, etc, but I did this with my ex LL and he just got angry and told me not to involve third party people! But they are very good EH and will not stop until resolved.

Universe please send HI a decent place to live ASAP!!!!!!

She didnt do anything I told her and she said she'd sort it in the end I rang the council who came and put traps out, but now there coming in the house last night I dont plan on staying any longer with that. Thats the final straw! Shes just useless and I have been here 2 years and nothings done like the cooker for example was broke before I moved in and its STILL not fixed. I just cant deal with it anymore

traps are no good for rats, you need industrial strength rat killer poison, the council should have looked to see where they were coming in and put poison outside these holes, I would get back onto them HI.

Tell them you have 2 children under 5, rats are a risk to their health and they carry diseases, also tell them about your health. Tell them traps are not working and you need poison. They should be contacting your LL and charging her for it too.

We have had mice 2 years running in this house, the first year, told the LL and he said he would come to the house to see where they were coming in and I said not good enough. I had DS who was a year old, and they were weeing and pooing everywhere. Called council who came with poison and charged LL. he wasn't happy...:rotfl: We found the holes and blocked them.

This year saw more mice, they were coming through different holes! I put poision down where DS cannot see it and reach it and nothing since.
  • Hope you are having a good day x

Good luck with finding a new house, I agree that you should get onto the council - damp, dodgy electrics, rats and everything else is not a decent rental property,

    Just delurking (again).

I hope you find somewhere soon. That blimmin' landlord should be paying you for you to live there.

Please go to the Council and tell them all about it, I worry about you and I don't even know you in real life :lovethoug

I 2nd that!! Your landlord is a disgrace! It is hard enough for you to pay for things, you should at least get value for the money you hand over. Really hope you can find somewhere lovely soon for you and your LOs x

    hey Hidden,

take pictures of eveerything and keep all documentation/evidence of communication with LL- you never know if you'll need it.

Hope no more rats venture into the house- it's so clean I don't know why they're bothering...they won't find anything!!!!

    xx

  • Lol thank you for all the replies, I spoke to her again and Ive handed my notice in :eek: No where to go when it ends but my housing benefit has also gone down becuase they have changed the rates or something so from the 17th of next month (which would be my anniversary date) it will be down another £35 every 4 weeks so I cant afford to top that up as well as what I already am doing. She tried all sorts to get me to stay but nothing mentioned about fixing the jobs (and the things Ive mentioned on here isnt the half of it, the cookers been broke since moving in nearly 2 years ago, the back door doesnt lock, the kitchen window doesnt shut, the windows upstairs are glued shut it goes on and on) It was a druggies house before so I know its not her "fault" that its like this but it is her problem to sort. Truthfully I havent been happy since moving here its been one bad thing after another and all the money in the world wouldnt make me happy here.
So the house hunt has begun which is difficult when as soon as you mention housing benefit they run a mile :rotfl::rotfl:

Hope all is well :) x
