although the overdraft fees are now at loan shark level the issue here is about having that same system imposed on you for bank errors, slip-ups on a non overdraft account, which is happening to many thousands of people every day in the UK.

The bank never needs to overdraw you, if you dont have an overdraft arranged. That should be a decision. i.e. The cashpoint could give you an option, do you want to arrange an instant overdraft.

This is about the bank plastering snowball charges (not telling you) over errors and trifles, or putting you in the red when you have given them no green light to do so.

There nothing that can be done about it only one thing that can be possible for now is that thread get locked and the key lost.

To risk stirring the pot, there's a difference between (i) "free" current accounts with occasional nasty overdraft charges which are unpalatable but manageable and (ii) £100s of snowballed charges when service should have stopped and the account passed to debt collection ages ago. In the case of people with mental health difficulties which affect ability to manage finances, (ii) is more likely.

again a complete misrepresentation. trying to shift this debate so that the errors are the result of people possessing a mental illness is just downright disgraceful labeling.

Some of the tricks on this thread only put these posters to shame to the intelligent reading this.. What you think people reading this are going to by hypnotized by the force of you being brazen enough to put this stuff here.

Yes of course, many will. thats practically the psychological mechanism which the average person is prone to falling into. How do you think all these people are getting rich off others ? They are using a whole host of psychological tricks, including putting forward forceful and articulate points that make the less articulate slightly confused and hence throw a spanner into the more instinctive moral compass that they possess.

i was just wondering to myself what happened to the getting the thread locked trick tactic to try and close this down ... Hey its not going to work. I have seen all the dirty tricks and more. Chop this down and it can rear a dozen more heads. Here we are 7 years on and the bank charge issue is rearing up, still going strong no matter what happens. Even beating the OFT using dirty tricks will not make it go away. The few living of the many by keeping them in dire straits situation is going to come to an end. Life is too short. it should not be this way, but a minority have a rather nastier/zero sum game/twisted Darwinistic philosophy, or whatever to justify their sociopathic tendencies, and that minority (most people call it evil) do have their day for short periods (like now)

    I have seen it all.

You dont want people to question whats happening or to be aware of it. You are one of the 1% types as the wall street protesters would say. Interesting that 1% of the population are sociopaths is it not and experts on this subject think the majority are in big business (from actual studies they carried out) . Not that i am saying you are of course.

I really think there should be a major investigation into who some of these forum members are, and how this situation has self organized.

I urge people reading the threads on to this forum to trust their instinct. There is lot of underhand play on here.
  • @lanza what with the thanksI have reported this thread because we are going back and forth and i see the post continuing for a lifetime.

sorry you need to rephrase that grammar. What does Do you agree with matter of opinions? mean ?

Nice try, to smooze and compliment the members here. another typical trick. I say it like it is and would not dare try patronize people like that. If they are good hearted or not i am pretty sure they know it and do not need anybody to tell them what they are, or are not.

All you do is evade the points and use a load of dirty tricks to try and close down what is probably one of the most important topics on this forum.

I gave an example of a circumstance where it would be inappropriate to allow the account to continue being operated. It seemed relevant because you mentioned that you had health difficulties around the time of finding out about some charges. Do you disagree with the notion of protection from snowballing for people who are experiencing such hardship?
How do you think all these people are getting rich off others ?
By selling them a service which confirms to a set of laws and regulations formed by a democratically elected legislature or those appointed by it. If you think that society would be improved through better protections then you need to convince everyone rather than fighting everyone.

I am forceful and articulate but this doesn't mean I'm taking sides for or against you. I acknowledge several of your points and the only spanner I'm administering is one which turns your "burn 'em all!" into a suggestion that you calmly consider why things are as they are. Use this information to help yourself and possibly others.
