I have no options availiable to lend money etc etc basically im !!!!!!ed to put it politely.Sadly i dont have any family left to ask and the few people i know are in no position to help and with xmas on the way etc people are really struggling.Borrow from friends or family
Why is it that people like you have such a hard time believing that others can be so down on their luck? - Why is it that you can't believe what you've been told? - Do you get off on remarks like that Mara?0 -
I think you have got to explain the situation and ask the firm on Monday if they can advance you a week's wages. After all you have worked for a week so they have got to pay you that much at some point so they can't lose out whatever happens. They may even be willing to go further.
Not easy, but what is there to lose if you have no alternative?0 -
I thought Mara gave some very good options to try. As an employer I know I'd give a cash advance for this reason on reciept of the bus/train ticket etc.
Also pawn the lap top or computer until pay day.
How far is your work op? It may help us to offer relevant suggestions.Life is short, smile while you still have teeth

I know how frustrating it can be trying to go back to work and do the right thing........and still it all goes wrong for you

I'm wondering if you may be able to do some odd jobs like gardening, house clearing, decorating etc etc, for people to get extra money to help pay for van repairs or commute?
If the van is a no goer can the money you would've spent on fuel, and any refund on insurance and tax be used to get you to next payday??Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Oh grow up! There is always a way to raise money; and at least I had some sensible suggestions. Where are yours? What help have you offered? None at all.0 -
Sure some of your suggestions were good but that one was insensitive. As for growing up.. I have no family, you clearly do otherwise you'd know just how insensitive that idea was so who really needs to stop and think?0

Your digs at me are taking the attention away from helping the OP find a solution to his problem. If you wish to comment about me and my posts further I would suggest you take it to PM.0 -
I would ask your employers for an advance on your wages. If you can't get one I would phone the Jobcentre and see if they can help - this must be a fairly common situation. I just looked online and someone reckoned you can get a Crisis Loan from the Jobcentre if your employer won't advance your wages. I don't know for certain but I would have thought there would be a scheme in place. Only other thing I can think of is could someone give you a lift?0

People often think that you can only get a crisis loan if you're on benefits. This isn't true folks, you can get a crisis loan without being on benefits. There are obviously things they won't helpl you with but most people just apply for some other junk instead (such as a new bed) and spend the money as needed.
I remember once hearing someone at the DSS comment on how their CL applications went through the roof whenever the local beer festival was on.0 -
Hello All,
Thanks for your help btw.
No help from bank or employer. Unable to get provident etc due to issues in the past. I sadly dont know many people who can if they could help. Crisis/budgeting loans etc cant have as still owe them money.
My first week involved me driving 300 miles (various site locations) i only had £20.00 to my name the day i started. I was maxed on my overdraft and the little space/spending power i had on my credit card i used to fix the van. If my van hadn't of died a death fingers crossed i might of just scrapped by the skin of my teeth. On top of that i had to supply everything i need ( i wasn't told that at interview maybe i was a bit dimm at that moment in time)
Im now running out of gas/electric etc i haven't even got a bog roll. (thank god for junk mail !!!)
I wouldn't be able to sell van and bus it in as due to the hours and location its impossible without your own transport. It would only be me going to each location so i wouldnt be able to get a lift or car share etc.
So now what im worried about is that i have tried and it's impossible to do the job by any means... Hows this gonna affect me now 3 weeks before xmas. The Job centre + aren't gonna be happy at all.
Kindest Regards,
John0
