New Job but cant do it

Hello all,
On monday i started a new job i was chuffed to beans.
So i filled in my attendance card/signing on book thing and got on with things. Joy i thought jut in time for christmas.

Monday and tuesday went well, wednesday was a day off brilliant. Thursday my transport to get me to and from the job died a death. Friday (today) i went to work and now i got £3.40 to last me untill i get paid just before xmas.

Now i cant afford to go to work as im now over my limit in the bank and basically i have signed off and im waiting for a tax credit claim pack to be sent to me etc etc.

I have no options availiable to lend money etc etc basically im !!!!!!ed to put it politely.

Can i sign back on? what can i do? any help and advice will be appreciated.

Kindest Regards,
John

When is payday, 3 weeks? You may be the one rare occasion where a payday loan is worth it if you are very very careful and do pay it back. I assume you have tried relatives etc.

Do you not have one more JSA payment to come if you have just signed off?

Before trying for a payday loan, talk to your bank - if you can show them that you now have a job eg show them your contract then they might be able to help.

How were you planning to manage before your car died?

If you leave your job you're likely to be sanctioned from receiving JSA,

Is there anything you can sell to raise money n the short term?

Is your car worth repairing? if not then scrap it tomorrow and use the cash to commute.

  • Hello All,
I last signed on on the 24th Nov and received my last JSA payment on Tuesday the 29th. (i started my job Monday the 28th.) so at a push they may still owe me a day or two.

I went to see my bank on the wednesday my day off to see if they could offer any help (overdraft increase etc) but no joy there. As i knew that things would be tight anyway.

The aa came to my rescue and i later that day fixed what they said was wrong £126.99.

Friday (today) i got to work but home time my van died a death again. Up until this week it had never ever let me down. Although it is an 1998 model van it has always been looked after and serviced etc etc.

Sadly i dont have any family left to ask and the few people i know are in no position to help and with xmas on the way etc people are really struggling.

Basically without transport I cant do my new job either. So im up the creek without a paddle literally.

Thanks for your continued help and support btw.

    Kindest Regards,
    John

I am blown away by the fact that you are giving up so easily - is there something more to this that you aren't telling us, because if I were that chuffed to have a job I'd be doing everything in my power to keep it. Some idea:

Pawn or sell something - TV, computer, jewellery, games console
    Pay Day Loan
    Provident loan
    Borrow from friends or family
    Credit card
    Crisis loan
Ask the employer for an advance - after all, you've already earned some money and if you explain the situation they might be able to help

    can you cycle to work?
    :T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:
  • This is difficult, but can you explain the situation to work? A strictly defined advance on your wages (ie for travelcard, receipted)?
I sympathise and really hope you can get sorted out, the first month back in work can be impossible finance wise, just when you need all your confidence and your stress levels down!

Does anyone at your new place of work live near to you ?.

You say that the AA diagnosed what was wrong and you got it fixed. If this was work carried-out by a garage and the same part has failed again, then they are under a duty of care to repair it for free.
This happened to a former colleague of mine.

How far are you from your place of work ?.

Is it essential for the job to have a van ?.

Sorry about all the questions, but the more we know, the better we can assist you.
