Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 2nd December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
There must be workmen on the Railway line as all the trains are sounding their horns as they go past today.
There may be some good news for hubby soon, fingers crossed, but not sure when we will know for certain.
We have hubby's Christmas do coming up soon, it should be great fun, there are abour 15 people going & they are all at each others throats.
I've done well, I didn't get up til nearly 4 only an hour before the alarm, so it really doesn't count as insomnia.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

  • Morning Hester and all who follow

Been up since 4 today, OH is having to take the Harvester up to Yorkshire today to show another farm how to lift....

DD2 is up, DD1 and I are going shopping this morning. DD1 works in a 'posh' restaurant as you know (we had mince pies the other day :D) and she only has 2 days off from now until 2nd January so I said we'd go do a bit of shopping.

I have a nasty head cold  but hopefully I can manage a bit of shopping.

WM is on, DW is on (economy 7 here so all electric things go on before 7am lol)

Log burner is lit... the heating still hasnt come on yet, I have the heating on a thermostat permanantly and it hasnt clicked in yet :T

Dinner tonight is still left over gammon from Wednesday lol.. I might even get some chicken and make chicken and ham pies :D

The onion soup last night was a hit and the girls had onion bhajis and rice so the onions are nearly gone now... ready for the next lot over the weekend lol

Hugs to all those who need them...

Morning Hester and FW and all who follow,

Yesterday really tired me out. I spent the day at school teaching all our year 9 boys (36 at a time) about self esteem and body image and then I followed that up with a parents evening! I had to buy chocolate on the way back from dropping DD2 at guides!

Today should be more peaceful. DD2 has a ballet exam this afternoon. DD1 has one tomorrow and then the girls have a music practice this evening at church. Have no idea what if anything DS is doing, i am sure he will inform me eventually!

    Tea tonight is HM pizza.

Hugs to all in need especially Beth, Lou and JackieG.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Just popping in quickly to say hi, hope everyone has a good day whatever everyone is up to..

I have had a decent day at work, and spent the last few hours doing the most ridiculous online training program I have ever come across. It is compulsory though, so I will crack on with that. 12 more hours to go.

    Have a good day everyone

SO knackered this morning...Y11 parents' evening last night, always a killer. I get a parents' evening headache which usually lasts for the next 24 hours!
Started making some paper chains this morning while the kettle was boiling...it's December so I'm allowed! getting very excited now!
Hope everyone has a good day today...almost the weekend!

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,

    Morning :santa2:

Ridiculously huge overreaction to Jeremy Clarkson's comments - his tongue was so firmly in his cheek that it was practically poking through the other side :D

We're off to Ikea today for new pillows, ours are pretty much flat. We also need a new winter quilt, we swapped the summer one for our winter one the other day and it didn't feel any warmer. While we're there, I'll pick up some picture hooks, when we had the walls replastered I put them in a place so safe that they're hidden forever :D Ooooh and lots of scented tealights, I need them, lol.

Apart from that, it's just the usual hutch and chicken shed cleaning - unless mr tru decides that today is the day that he'll put the curtain rails up. There's no rush for that, I haven't actually made the curtains yet :D

    Morning all,

it cool here, but not bad at all, heating has not clicked on, so must be mild out.

Today is my OH's Birthday, we have not done presents yet, will save that for tonight after work, I had ordered 2 bits of steak from sainsbugs, but it was out of stock, so they sent 1 piece as a sub which was twice the price. So that got sent back, and I will have to nip into MR T this morning to get some, (OH has requested steak sandwich for dinner)

Will do a wash tonight, and hang it on the airer, and at some point I must start making my Xmas cards, I am all sorted on the present part, so cards and food to go.

JackieG hugs to you and your boys, how hard for them xx

Beth, hugs for you, remember to rest if you can xx

    Jools, awww poor dd xx

    Have good days all xx

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday to Jackies 'shelly have a great dayxx

Jackieo, DD and I have just read a book called Child 44 y Tom Rob Smith, its a thriller type book, set in Russia during Stalin's years, its one of the best books I have read for years, well worth a look xx

    Happy birthday SHELLEY
Hugs to Jackie G, Beth and Lou and anyone else who needs it. I could do with one as its only just past 7 and already have had to shout at DS1.

OH home today - so have got sausage casserole out of freezer which will have with Jacket spuds. Christmas lights switched on in local town tonight, so I'll go with the boys. Then tomorrow am taking them to my parents first thing, OH and I drive to Nottingham to look at a house and then its his Christmas party tomorrow evening. Then on Sunday I'm driving back home as its the school Christmas Fair and I'm on the PTA.

Got the first viewing of our house on Monday so will spend all day Monday cleaning. Have to go and deal with DS1. Hugs to all xxxx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
