Day 1 for me - loose change hunt. Am collecting coppers, 5p and 20p's - 87p from my purse and 44p from the dregs of my handbag. I've loose change in the car that I'll grab tomorrow and I've had a glass of coppers just gathering dust on my desk at work! It's so good having a focus now - no idea what I'll save. Still need to buy / make a sealed pot. Happy saving folks and thanks Sue!

  • It seems that I am not the only one with a super savvy saving two year old then! :D

Ive had a money tin in my bedroom for ages for saving all my coppers and she always put them in for me, that tin is a bit heavy for her to lift now so I thought I'd get her her own one, shes been running round shaking it all day :rotfl:

Hello, this is the first time I've been tempted to join a challenge but I'd like to join this if I may, it will keep me motivated to start saving seriously. I do have a tendency to buy things on a whim - I get what I call 'an attack of the spends' and all common sense goes out of the window! So if I see something I fancy but don't need, if I restrain myself am I allowed to put that money in the pot instead?

    Cheers :)

£1.20 for me today. Not sure what my total is so far as I potted yesterday before I'd even counted it!

You're most welcome to join us, rolobluebells and rosieq, it's lovely to have you with us. biggrin.gif Have fun saving. You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 4 of page 1. Please read through post 1 as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge.
    * Please pop your number on your sig, it really helps.

rosyq, this challenge could really help you to turn your lifestyle around..from now on if it's only something you want..walk away and either leave you money in your purse..or pot it, either way you save! In future you could always put such 'wants' on a Christmas list..chances are the whim would have long passed by the time Christmas gets anywhere near. You can help yourself here on SPC just as others have, me too! :)

    Hi Sue,

Can I join this challenge please? I always struggle at Christmas with young children so I'm going to try and save £300!! Only time will tell.

    Thanks

So been checking out Amazon for piggy banks - and along with the postage might not be a good deal. Been searching for suitable pots round the house then I remembered I got a lovely cute cat biscuit barrel that I keep soaps etc in. Have a massive collection of them too which I don't use. Have this now looking all cute on my kitchen windowsill - feel chuffed cos I've saved a few quid (which is going in the pot) and I'm not buying more clutter. As its really a biscuit barrel its not strictly a sealed pot, if I promise not to dip in can it be allowed? Am unlikey to be tempted due to it being shrapnel.

I'm not surprised, you have all been worked extra hard since Wednesday! Sparky, u mentioned your scooter, is it a "proper scooter, I mean vespa or Lammie?"

  • Hi Sue, can I join the challenge too please? As it's my first one I'm not quite sure how to add my number to my signature but I'm sure I'll work it out eventually :-) I'm now officially an OAP (prefer the term 'Senior' !) so am struggling to save anything at the moment. This challenge will, hopefully, spur me on to be even more frugal with my daily spend and £100 for Christmas would be brilliant at the end of this.
