Just cancelled Sky package in a tizz - Next Move?

Just called Sky to ask them to reduce my package a bit as I need to cut costs. They didn't offer anything in terms of discounts so I proceeded to remove some of the packages. The operative then warned me that all recordings would be deleted and I mentioned that I would copy them and she went in to a rant about copyright etc - way over the top an totally unnecessary. In a fit I said just cancel the lot!
I don't really want to cancel it but would like it at a discount. Any ideas?
Thanks

Fingers crossed - I was so frustrated by her attitude.
Is Sky generally cheaper than Virgin? I hear bad stuff about their customer service.0 -
never had virgin so cant help you but my mate says it goes down for about a week, 3 or 4 times a year. Something to do with the box outside but they take ages to sort it !
Think Virgin is a bit cheaper for the first 6 months but shoots up above sky after. Probably works out the same over a year. Had sky since it first came out and never had any real issues apart from internet at the start.
You could ring back and complain about the person you spoke too, might get u a discount.0 -
That's what I'm afraid of as Sky is pretty solid with no problems - I do hate that it's Murdoch related though...
I'm just emailing sky now....0 -
Emailed them last night so awaiting a reply.
After a bit of research and using Topcash back I think I can cut the cost a fair bit by moving to Virgin. I'm going to try and squeeze a decent price out of them if possible. As it stands though their initial price is still £9 cheaper that what Sky were charging me so I'm up.0 -
The programmes wont be deleted, they'll stay on your box until YOU delete them, not Sky.You can copy them to video if you want to.Sounds like the girl you were taalking to was talking outta her bum hole!
The only thing Sky'll do aside from blocking your channels is to stop the record/play facility on the box.0 -
Hi When I cancelled Movies all the movies that I had recorded vanished.

Box office movies get deleted after seven days, standard movie channels are a premium package so they may be deleted if you cancel but I have movies & programmes I recorded on my old Sky+ box that I'm using as a freeview box in the spare bedroom that I recorded over a couple years ago. Can't watch them but they're still there.
Even so,my HD box that was off for a few months still has movies I recorded from the FTA movie channel before it went off still on it & watchable0 -
I think she was a bit over the top. I had a sky subscription channel that I cancelled last year and all recordings disappeared from that channel. It seems a bit underhand to me but never mind. I've still not heard back from Sky.0

I was with Sky for 19 years, tried to reduce my sub and they offered me £10 a month off, have now moved to Virgin Media and saving £38.50 a month and even have Sky movies something I did not have with Sky.:pB&SC No. 298
