Best part of England to move to??

I grew up in Chesterfield, on the edge of the Peak District. Not suggesting you should move to Chesterfield itself, but there are some beautiful areas around that part of the Peak. And it's not a million miles to get to so many places, Birmingham, Sheffield, Yorkshire, Manchester. Best of all worlds.:T0

What do people think of Wessex as an area to live?poppy100

Poppy10, which part of Wessex do you mean?0

I agree with other that Wales is probably the best part of England!
I also agree with Alan that the Lake District is stunning and I love the place. Obviously prepare for a tourist invasion when it's sunny though.
To be honest I haven't often vetured far North but I have been to the Peak District once or twice was bowled over by how nice it is.0 -
What about Sunny Salford...lovely place to live.0

We live in Tamworth (South Staffordshire). The people are friendly, the property is cheap, there is some gorgeous surrounding countryside and it's near to Birmingham...but not too near if you know what i meanSujamjen wrote:I currently live in the Midlands in a very good area - brill schools, very low crime, clean, nice people etc but my kids have all grown up and now OH & I would like to downsize and move . We want to go north (anywhere from north of Coventry onwards), but not to a city, We don't know and will never have time to find out all the great places there are so I thought I'd ask on here! Your opinions will be gratefully received.

Has to be the Peak District. Wish I was there now!! Absolutely beautiful and varied countryside, lovely villages with stone cottages (you can only use stone to build in the National Park), great for getting just about anywhere else. And as mentioned earlier, the beer's not bad either. Paradise... (In fact why aren't I there??? Must be nuts..)0

I live in Colne, Lancs (not in the town out in the sticks) property is comparatively cheap here and its a lovely rural place for peace and quiet, however, when my kids grow up, I will probably move to Harrogate, its great there too. Good luck whereever you go. Don't go to salford, I grew up there and its rough!I am a Mortgage Adviser

The Wirral is ideal... on the upside low house prices,30min from Liverpool,30min from Chester,45 min from Manchester 30 min from N Wales, and just over 1.1/2 hours to the peak district. It has a very low population so no hospital waiting lists,by the way 2 major A&E DEPARTMENTS WITHIN 30 mins, it has a motorway nobody hardly ever uses (M53 ).it has good schools and is safe to walk the streets at night.
ON the downside it is very bland, nothing more than a dormitory area for the surrounding towns and cities and very few indiginus inhabitants and traditions.Child of a Fighting Race.0 -
