If you have kids in tow then doing Air Asia via KUL is probably going to be more hassle than it's worth.

If you are wanting to fly in Jan then you are leaving it fairly late to get a good deal. Jan is still peak season for flights to BKK so if you can find tickets for £550-600 then I would jump at them.

Also, have you looked at EVA air? They fly direct from LHR to BKK en-route to Taiwan and can have some very good prices.

I agree with doshwater those prices are good. It is high season and prices will be more expensive I had to fly home unexpectedly and was over £700. Certainly not a journey you want to make either with loads of waiting time at airports especially if kids are in tow

Also make sure you have visas in place if you want to spend all your time in Thailand as you will only get 30 days entry visa at arrivals or you will have to do visa run.

If you book flights for a trip longer than 30 days and don't have a visa, the airline may refuse travel, irrespective of any plans for a visa run.

Forgot about leaving uk. Yes they are strict especially Emirates. I get hassle everytime I leave uk to go back to Thailand because I dont have a return to uk ticket. They check up my visas to make sure everything in order.
