Any cheap tickets for Thailand or Malaysia?

I would like to travel to Chiang Mai and some parts of Asia for about 2 months between January and March. If I can get to Bangkok or Kuala Lumber that will be fine as I have seen some good deals on some no frills airlines once there.

I have trawled and can't really find any decent deals apart from a couple that take 30 hours to get there which isn't practically with 2 kids in tow. I have seen previous post of people paying less than £500 or even less £400 to get to Kuala Lumper with AirAsia but I cant seem to get anything decent. I have played around with dates as I am fairly flexible but still no luck.

Is it better to wait for the new year sales to get decent deals?

The Oman Air flights are a good deal too but bear in mind that these are via Muscat.

The Air Asia flight is one way and i can't find anything around March / April for under £400 per person for the return flight so you're looking at around £640pp but these are direct so it might be better (budget permitting) if you have little ones?

    Of course not direct. :)

The OP can decide as to whether they prefer Bangkok or KL as their hub.

Why don't you think of the big picture and pay £580 per person on Thai Airways including a flight upto Chiang Mai, and a flight out of anywhere else in Thailand or Indochina?

They have Seatback TV's now. And are direct to Thailand of course.

I can't find this deal on Thai Airways, which dates did you check?

I prefer to make Bangkok the base for my flights but we will visit Malaysia too so I could mix the flights up with no frill ones. Most of our time will be spend in Chiang Mai.

I am tempted to wait and see if any deals comes up in the sales before booking or will it be waste of time?

If you have kids in tow then doing Air Asia via KUL is probably going to be more hassle than it's worth.

If you are wanting to fly in Jan then you are leaving it fairly late to get a good deal. Jan is still peak season for flights to BKK so if you can find tickets for £550-600 then I would jump at them.

Also, have you looked at EVA air? They fly direct from LHR to BKK en-route to Taiwan and can have some very good prices.
