Unison and Clarkson

It seems a bit surreal for a Union to be calling for a worker to be sacked
Indeed, how dare he have speech. They should remove the right to freedom of expression straight away.
oops no more strikes.
The unions and Labour look like idiots on this, if he actually meant it or incited it. yes that is bad but it was a clear joke on impartiality and the BBC.0 -
I note that it is always lefties in any "debate" who claim shock and outrage and demand that some higher authority intervenes because of some comment that they don't like.
They can never ignore it, or just deal with it themselves, they always come out with "you can't say that" "I'm going to call the police" "he should be sacked" etc etc.
They are dullards, plodding away within their "system" and they cannot stand someone richer and more successful than they are taking the p1ss out of them. So they rely on a "rule book" and officious officials to "put that person back in their place".
They are sad losers, who can only win by blowing the refs whistle on a joke or sarky comment "oi, you can't say that!".
Why should there be laws and rules telling people what to say, anyway?
Let's have proper freedom of speech!
And anyway, most people didn't even notice this army of plodders not being at work, did they? I certainly didn't. Every business I interacted with, was open for business. I rarely have to deal with the state-sector army of plodding pen-pushers, bureaucrats and timewasters!0 -
Clarkson is an irrelevance. Go into any library and you'll see his books all sitting on the shelves, unread and unloved, a couple of years back and they would have flown out. Even his latest book is only 53 in the Amazon rankings. A couple of years back it would have been top 10. Top Gear is still enjoyed by many, but his media has gone out of fashion. A bit like his clothes and hairdo. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Does anybody have a guesstimate at how much the taxpayer saved in wages not needing to be paid for the day?
I would suspect around 2 or 300 million.
Most of them seemed to use the day to go Christmas shopping, thus saving the public purse with their wages and boosting the economy. Let's hope they have a few more 'strikes'.0 -

The White Horse was telling me these public sector types normally phone in sick to do their Xmas shopping so it seems like a very magnanimous gesture on their part this year.0 -
I assumed Clarkson was paid for exactly this sort of thing; to incite those who hate him into foaming stupidity and get Top Gear fans organising "Clarkson For PM" groups on Facebook. Not my cup of tea, but he's clearly good at what he does.
When you hear the full clip it's clear he's being sarcastic. The line about train suicides is harder to get away with on a prime time chit chat show; that sort of black humour is quite common amongst commuters, but I think you need to be clear about your audience in that sort of territory. They are an EYESORES!!!!0
