So your daughter has this in writing does she?
No, but the police officer has said she was hit from behind. The accident report has been submitted. They know she wasn't using her phone. Why would there be criminal charges? The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
She was either hit from behind or it was the wind. Now which one was it?0

I don't know, ask the policeman - he was the one said it.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

The police officer said at first the wind could have caused the accident. Two days later he said he had seen the mark on the car and it was his opinion that she was hit from behind and the driver did not stop. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

How do you know that it was careless driving? Were you there? The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
At motorway speeds the forces carried by the vehicles are 30x what they are at 30mph, any slight impact will transfer that force to the other vehicle.
Any impact would have created two wrecks, even the slightest nudge would have transferred considerable force between the vehicles.
My opinion is, your daughter was an inexperienced driver, probably caught by a combination of wind and crossing a white line, over reacted and braked hard emphasising the over reaction and span out the car.
The notion that a vehicle could nudge another with no damage at those speeds and transferred forces is not a scientific one.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
She crashed for a reason and That reason keeps changing.
You don't know what if put down as the cause, You can only guess.0 -

Not sure of the science of that one. You are saying it is impossible for a vehicle to hit another one going in the same direction and not crash itself?
How do you account for the mark on the left back of the car and no other damage? Just interested. The first crash impact was on the right hand side flat against the crash barrier. The imprint of the crash barrier can be seen the full length of the right side from front to back. She then spun around without hitting anything and crashed head on into the crash barrier on the hard shoulder. So where did that left hand mark come from . Its not from debris as its a heavy bash. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
