    Sorry to throw a spanner in the works, didn't expect to but I've won this;

    Should be £500 with the mot. I only put a cheeky £450 bid in, didn't expect to win it! Going to get the checks done now. Not sure who with - will search these boards.

    Looks ok, but I'd always be suspicious of a mechanic "in the trade" who doesn't want to put 12 months mot on a car that would fly through, and prefers to take the loss selling it for spares.
  • I messaged him and said I'd only take if he mot'd it for 12 months.

    Vax I put a cheeky bid in for it, those are going for a least double. If the check flags up anything wrong I'm leaving it. Obviously I'm taking a chance but in my position I'm willing to do it!
  • Even though I hate both Renualt and Ford, if I had the option, I'd go with the Ford. The Renualt looks... ugly.
  • OP, if the car is still insured, drive to the local centre and slap on 12 months of M.O.T for £45. I belive you can drive to M.O.T centres without road tax, as long as you have insurance. Then put it up for sale for "£500 with 12 months M.O.T, taxed at buyers expense."
  • Haha the Focus has MOT til June. You could have had it for £450 ;-)
