Good luck to all the public sector workers striking and picketing.
Today millions of beleaguered workers across the UK who run our schools, libraries, hospitals, councils, universities, and countless other essential services, have decided enough is enough.
Enough of a twisted and crooked politico-financial system that places vast abundance at the feet a of a minority of unelected, unaccountable elites, and then tells the masses that there isnt enough to go round.
Enough of a plutocrat pseudo democracy where millionaires with silver spoons coming out of every orifice, who have never once known what it is like to struggle to pay a bill, take more and more from those who have less and less.
Enough lies and deceit, enough gerrymandering in this absurdly undemocratic political system, enough kleptocracy, and above all, more fairness.
Few of the workers striking today before Christmas can afford to lose this days wages, but they are all making a stand, not just for pensions, but for our children's future against a dishonest and morally bankrupt administration that is as clueless as it is capricious.
I wish them well.

Clearly every public sector worker out on strike today hates children.
Otherwise they wouldn't be striking in demand of pensions that can only be supported by cripplingly high taxes on the taxpayers of tomorrow. The Unions would like to somehow fool people into thinking it's the Tories money that we're talking about. And astonishingly, some people are probably stupid enough to actually think that.
Of course it's not. The Government has no money of it's own, only that which is raised by taxing everyone who works. And the ridiculously over-generous pensions that people are striking over today can only be funded by massive tax raises for taxpayers, the brunt of which will be on future taxpayers. Children today can look forward to decades of high taxes as they try to pay for Labours Debt & the lavish public sector pension schemes they bought votes with. In fact it's a safe bet they'll probably be so upset about it they'll go on strike.
I wonder what makes those people on strike hate children so much?0 -
Yes, good luck to the public sector workers and their gilt edged pensions. Let them eat cake, the quality of which can only be dreamed of by the majority of private sector tax payers.0

Funny, these public sector workers didn't give a !!!! when Labour/Gordon Brown raided the pensions of private sector workers (rolls eyes smiley).0

I don't understand why you've all got the hump about the strike..........its 1 day !!!!!!! So what if it inconviences you for a whole day.....big deal!
Be nice to see what gold plated pensions the politicians/bankers/chief execs etc have set themselves up with.0 -
The average state worker is receiving a pension of just £4000 per year. This is after working for years for comparatively low pay in jobs that frequently have little advancement or other benefits.
Pensions were already renegotiated two years ago and it was agreed by the government that the new arrangements were sustainable and affordable. Why the sudden change? Because they've blown a lot of money and want to rake it back from those who can least afford it.
The recent Hutton report found in favour of continued public sector pensions.0 -

I think you'll find they are striking because the government wont let them spend their children s future tax revenue on retirement.
If they cared about their children's future they would not force them in to tax servitude to fund their retirement.0 -
To put the shoe on the other foot.
If it is that bad in the public sector why not join the private sector?
When anyone says anything usually against the public sector the standard response is "why don't you join the public sector if it is that good?"
I would like to know if it is that bad, why don't they leave and join us in our non subsidised pension equally low paid jobs?;)0 -

I love the way stats get rolled out.
Is the Average £4k an average of people who have worked their full lives in the public sector, or is it an average including those that may have only done a couple?
What is the average pension of a "lifer" from the public sector.
The public sector is too big. Trim the fat, the middle management and all the non-jobs we all know exist. Ensure the crap workers are sacked and maybe the general public would be more supportive.
A fair days pay (and pension) for a fair days useful work. Sadly we all know that a significant proportion of the public sector is un-necessary and un-productive.0
