Good luck Crickett, and well done on trying to establish a work/life balance  If your boss says anything, just be honest and say you're going swimming before work every day - it'll probably give you more energy too
And make sure you have things organised for after work so you don't stay late through apathy
Not that I would know what to do anymore if I had regular working hours! I have to go into the office on Thursday and it's really going to disrupt my routine. I mean, I'll have to get dressed properly and everything:eek:
I might (cold permitting) follow your example and go to the pool or gym first....0 -
Hi Crickett! Good luck with tomorrow. I'm in a similar situation and, due to losing all trust in my manager, I don't actually converse with him unless it's work related. It's an extremely difficult situation due to our team consisting of 3 people inc the aforementioned manager in a really small room. He's previously read my posts on mse and used conversations I had with him in confidence against me and also told many untruths on an official doc held on my personal file. I am furious but currently feel in control. I, too, have decided to do the exact hours that I'm contracted to do. So long as I am in control of issues, am doing nothing wrong (as usual) well he can't do anything else to upset me.
Good luck tomorrow, stay strong and remember how good it feels to be in control of a situation. (each time is a massive personal achievement for me).
Deep breaths, baby steps, stay strong.

Hi Crickett & GWTSIHH,
both your work situations sound difficult - good luck with going back Crickett and it sounds a very good idea to not spend any longer in that atmosphere than you absolutely have to.
Here's to  getting a better work/life balance in 2012 and may nasty bosses and colleagues get theirs:mad:

Morning, seems like it is the middle of the night still and the wind and rain isn't helping
Just seen on FB that my nephew and his wife are expecting (their fourth!). I only saw them on Sunday so am a bit surprised to find out this way. They have always said they wouldn't have anymore as they don't have room at their house, so perhaps it wasn't planned and they didn't want to say. Weird though....
Right, off to work now although feeling reluctant to leave my cosy front room. Hope it goes well for all especially those who have had issues recently. It can't be easy for either of you but you both know you have done nothing wrong, so can hold your heads high.OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

In fact good wishes being sent to all returning to work after the festive break.0 -
Good luck Crickett and GWTSIHH and all those off to work today. I am off into the loft to do a bit of filing and putting stuff away after Christmas. It is a bit blowy here but think it is much worse elsewhere so keep safe everyone.0

I finally gave up listening to the wind and got up - not particularly early but i've been staying in bed far too long recently. Anyway, I have cleaned the bath, shower screen, basin and both loos, and just have the downstairs basin and upstairs window sill to do.
Breakfast (porridge, stewed plums, grapefruit juice, vitamins and echinacea tea) has been made and eaten, so I just need to load and set off the DW, shower, and dress, and I'm ready for work. I will do housework in my breaks, unless the wind and rain die down enough for me to get out for a walk!
Good luck to those returning to work - start the year as you mean to go on. Work effectively and efficiently for the hours you are paid to, but make time for your own life outside that.0 -
Good luck ladies in getting the balance back in your lives - I think a general "work to rule" should be something we all consider as we start 2012 - spending just enough time in each area of our lives.
Was woken this morning to the sound of a wheely bin skittering down the street - Yup!!! we have an official gale again - bridges shut, Red Alerts the whole shebang.
Luckily the kids don't go back to school till next Monday up here so we can just snuggle down. Was going to have a visitor today - but looking at the weather report I think we will probably organise it for another time. Well there is no point being blown off the road for a lunch however yummy!!!
Ooops!!! sounds like one of the chimney pots over the road has gone. Keep safe everyone in the face of the storm - it should be over by teatime.

That's shocking MG
Maybe a picture of your storecupboard... although at that size it would just look like lots of little dots!
Definitely something positive, as an affirmation or visualisation of what you want to achieve. Pound sign? Gold bar? Probably not a Euro symbol...:p
ETA - my recycling bin has gone over, but I'm pretending I don't know in the hope that my neighbours, who use their back door and therefore walk past it regularly, decide to pick it up... if they don't, I'll deal with it when I'm dressed and have done the admin bit of my work day.
I love my new screen. It's SO much easier than working of a 13" laptop screen, and its nice to be back at a desk with a proper keyboard too0 -
LOL at the store cupboard as Avatar - but I have popped some piccies on the blog just in case. The Stores will be eaten this year in new and exciting ways!!
Its getting much worse here - I have shut all the curtains as the windows are doing that rattly sucky thing. Even the doors inside are banging in their jambs. Electric is flickering too - but hopefully we wont lose power.
Brrrr!!! really a day for hunkering down
