Where does the OP mention it was measured against an exact identical item?

    1) She only said the shop assistant measured it, not that she measured another dress from the same manufacturer
    2) Where does the OP state that the old dress is from the same shop, by the same manufacturer and the exact same design?

"similar" is not identical. I can size 2 pairs of my jeans, both are similar. Both were bought from the same store, both are labelled different sizes yet the smaller size is actually the bigger actual size.

I can even size 2 items from the same manufacturer and they'll be different.

I assumed the dress was from the same supplier, because, on the insistance of the school, it is the only source for that dress.

Ahh, you made an assumption based on the shop being the only place to purchase from. That deosnt mean that the shop sources its uniform from the same manufacturer nor does it take into account that they may have even changed manufacturer since she last bought a dress.

Which doesnt say what she measured the size against though does it? A chart or another dress of the same batch and style?

But she mentions just after that, that the size she had been wearing was a 28 so it will never match a smaller made size will it?

I don't thnk you quite grasped what the OP was writing. If the larger size is measured against the smaller size and it is shown to be even smaller than that, one can assume that if measured against and even larger size, it will still be smaller.

Calling you a smart ar5e is not a gratuitous insult at all. You have selectivly(sp) quoted parts of the OP which suit your arguement. You have tried to make me out to be an ogre at the mere suggestion that the OP's daughter may not actually be the size that she thinks she should be. Both of which are perfectly valid points when discussing the issue at hand.

I have no issue with you having an opinion, it was the way you expressed it that I have a problem with. If you disagree with my assumptions, that is is fair enough, but to be disrespectful and insulting, without any justification, is absolutley unnecessary and does you no favours at all.

And where you got even the faintest impression I was comparing you to an ogre is hyperbole in the extreme and nothing more than complete fantasy.
You can try and use your big boy words all you like but my comments were valid and you tried to take them out of context to suit your own means but yet by doing so have diminshed your own percieved credibilty by doing so.

Really? Oh, please. We can tell the schools are on strike today.

The customers don't buy from the manufacturer, they buy from the shop.

But is the shop able to source their wares from alternative manufacturers?

I don't know the answer to that Flyby, perhaps you do?

The school have not insisted that they use one manufacturer just that there is only one shop that stocks her School- very different things.

    Hi,
This is the only uniform shop that stocks her school so i will be forced to go there for the next 4 years.

What do you think a supplier is?

The shop is the flipping supplier. :wall:

I wouldnt say a shop is a supplier I would say a shop is the seller, or maybe even reseller if they purchase from a 3rd party then put the schools logo on themselves.

A manufacturer may not even be the supplier if they get them from a 3rd party.

If you keep banging your head whatever little sense you have left in there will soon dissapear..

No, the person who supplies it is the supplier. The manufacturer is the supplier to the retailer. The retailer is the supplier to the consumer.
