Can somebody call GhuolBusters please.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Whatever the differences in income and lifestyle, a few advantages the north will always have over the south are:-
Mushy peas when you go to the chippy
They know how to make thick gravy and custard in the north
And most importantly of all, oooop north, people learn how to make and appreciate a proper cup of tea.
When I was at Uni, I tended to mainly have girlfriends that were born in the south. I never let them cook!
Oh, and they all have a problem pronouncing some (but not all) words as though they have a mysterious 'r' in them.

Don't get me wrong ..... I love the North East ..... I spent many childhood days on the North Yorkshire Moors.
Just that, it seems from these pages, there is a housing slowdown there .... where in the South there is a mini boom.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -
Because income disparity is much wider in South. Although London sits in UK geographically, it is altogether a different planet in terms of income and expense.I always think we moan more in the south reallyHappiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
Or do Northerners just moan more?
I'm a Northerner - got on my bike in the 1960's and came down South to better myself.
Today, the housing market is rampant, spending is bouyant, wage increases are healthy, things actually look good .... in the South.
Just seen a young couple in the North moaning that times are tough, as they watch the chancellor on their 55" Plasma TV! Because a big Tv and iPads are essentials ...... yeah, right!
I suspect that it isn't any worse in the North - it's just that those in the North have now had a taste of the Southern affluence and have grown used to such a lifestyle that they cannot afford.
Am I close?
Now that house prices are crashing in the north west, things seem to be looking up for some people.
Please stay down south.0 -

Having said that, as pointed out above, the productive areas make up for the filth and degredation of the rediculous level of benefits claimants.
I am from the north and have spent plenty of time grafting down south as have a lot of my mates.
The firms i worked for gave up employing local labour as it had a negative effect on production.0
