If I could only move my job to York.

Love the place, got an apt there, spend quite a bit of time up there.
Official MR B fan club, dont go............................
  • I moved up north from a very lovely part of Surrey.
I'm married to a Geordie so he's happy being back home too.
I live on the north east coast and love it so much I'd never move back down south.
Personally there's nothing down there any nicer or better than I can find up here.
Yes there are some rough areas but where is'nt there.
There are some cess pits down there too.
Best thing though was the housing.
We bought a beautiful house up here, same standard as the one we had in Surrey for less than half what we sold for.
That has to be a bonus surely.

I'm a Northerner - got on my bike in the 1960's and came down South to better myself.
    ...

    You ex-Northerners eh?

You're like ex-smokers or born again Christians.

At least you're balanced - chip on both shoulders :D

As a Northerner who has worked daarn Saarf I can honestly say there are some lovely places there. I like places around Windlesham and Chobham.

Mind, I'm not sure how it will look when the numbers swell by another 10 or 20 million. At that point, you might as well fit parking meters alongside the M25 and walk into the 'inner city'.
  • Back on topic. I spent the weekend at the Mother in Laws in Basildon. In that festering corner of Essicks the housing market is healthy and there's a lot of new housing development going on. Back home on Teesside and the ghost of the former housing market is asleep in its grave.....

No, it's just a conspiracy to put southerners off coming up here.

I love the north. I'm sure I'd love living in the midlands though, or the south. In fact, maybe my enjoyment of life is based on a number of factors that don't include the area of the country I live? Yeah, think that's it.
  • North? Do you mean Watford? ;)
