TalkTalk - Uswitch Offer

I have just taken TalkTalk up on there excellent offer signalled by Martin himself recently in his weekly email, by joining them and signing up for their half price internet, and half price phone line rental for the first year (offer ends on December 7th by the way).
In addition believe it or not, if you sign up via Uswitch you qualify for a £60 Tesco gift voucher further down the line after your contract is up and running. This I did and got a confirmation email telling me I have successfully registered. The way it works is that Uswitch get a commission from TalkTalk, and when the time comes they send an email asking for your address to send the voucher.
Herein lies a problem that I, and I wonder how many more people did not foresee, and that is when I joined TalkTalk the email I used to register (VirginMedia) would no longer be valid when I switched, and Uswitch would not be able to contact me on my new TalkTalk email address!
I wonder how many more customers are in the same boat as me, and has anyone found a solution? I would be interested to hear if anybody has overcome the problem?
kind regards,
boydell.

When will people learn not to use ISP provided e-mail accounts!
There are plenty of ISP independent accounts available, which makes switching ISP's very easy and hassle free. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Open a Gmail account immediately - simples.
Other web based email accounts are available. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Hi. I am not sure if this will be of any use, but I previously had BT Broadband. They gave me an email account xxx@btinternet.com.
I left BT and I can still access the email fine. I have not been with them for 3 years now. I just go to www.btyahoo.com and it lets me log in from there.
Not sure if Virgin will be the same, but I certainly did not lose the email account my broadband provider supplied.
Hope you get to keep it. Could you let us know, out of interest anyway.

Another one of these replies that are common now on this website.
I do not know if it will go away. It is still available after 3 years.
BUT
I will now no longer post anything because I don't want to go back and forward with these types of posts.
Yawn. Good luck OP, hope you get to keep the account.0 -
Many thanks to all those who have replied so far... still hoping for somebody who has actually dealt with this problem.

You should still be able to receive on that VM address from their POP server for a while, until it is cancelled. What you will not be able to do is send from that address via TT's SMTP servers.
So for that account change the SMTP (outgoing) server address in your email program over to the TT SMTP server address.
Gmail is ISP independent-you won't have to change it when you change ISP's.No free lunch, and no free laptop

As above Gmail is independent of your ISP, its also available as standard on Android phones.

BTW Are you moving from Virgin Cable BB, in which case you could well keep the VM service long enough for your needs. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Thanks once again penrhyn.
No not cable, I am on a rural exchange landline originally BT.
I am not up to speed on this LLU business, and do not know if this is why I qualified for the TT offer. I assumed the good price was because the were getting their hands on my landline rental as well as broadband.
