Yet another case of Iphone roaming costs. And still people pour into the hype.
Iphones may do everything flashier, slicker etc but they appear to have forgotten the basics somewhere.
A triumph of marketing over needs.0 -
I'm not sure about t-mobile but on my 3 contract I need to phone
them to switch my international roaming on when I plan to use it
abroad, where the sales guy / girl will try to get me to buy a bundle
of xxx mb, and they go in to great detail at how much it will save
me compared to their roaming costs :rotfl:
there's no good thinking you turned these things off in the settings,
christ people must know the costs of using a phone abroad, so for
any normal person it should be.. passport, wallet, keys, data turned
off0 -
why are iphones so good again...oh yeah making money for apple and the networksDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Its quite easy to turn off the data roaming on an iphone. In any event- its obvious from the top screen bar whether data roaming is on or not because it says so.0

Its got nothing to do with it being an iPhone, if you forget to turn
data off on ANY smartphone the same will happen, it just seems to
happen to iPhone users more on these boards, not that im saying
iPhone users are as thick as 2 planks but.... :A0 -

The iPhone has data roaming OFF by default, below that is a clear warning that turning it on can be expensive.
Although there were a few (and a very few) cases where this was overridden the fact you have to deliberatly turn it on suggests it's almost always going to be down to the user not thinking.0 -
There are actually TWO settings you have to leave on for this to happen - Mobile Data and Data Roaming. Turning either off should stop these charges.
100% user error, nothing to do with the phone.0 -
Unfortunately gjchester's screenshot is of a very old (and possibly foreign) version of iOS. A more recent photo (not a direct screenshot) is:0

Mine doesn't look exactly like either of those screenshots (most recent iOS, on Orange).
FY(or anyone else's)I it says 'Cellular Data' if the language is set to 'English', and 'Mobile Data' if set to 'British English'. I'm not sure there are different versions of iOS for different languages, or just the same one with a different language chosen.
Either way it's very obvious what you need to turn off to avoid mobile data charges.0 -
