Cancelling preset windows shutdown

Basically my boyfriends friend is a bit on the childish side and if we ever leave him alone in our house he messes with our computers.
Last week he set some sort of automatic shut down on my computer which keeps activating.

The message is something along the lines of 'your computer will be logged off in 10 minutes' if I let it run it then throws up a box where he's typed in 'HAHA bye :P'

I know how to cancel each log off (by pressing the windows key followed by R and then entering 'shutdown /a') but can anyone tell me how to permanently delete it? I don't want to give him the satisfaction of having to ask him to do it.

Thank you.

*Edit* problem solved now thankyou!

  • That's ok.
Unfortunately he's very good with computers, hacking and the like.
The shutdown code for the message seems to be 'shutdown/r /t 600/ c HAHA Bye:P' if that helps anyone.

Have you looked for a scheduled task he's put in?
That line of code will force a reboot (the /r) after 10 minutes (/t is time in seconds) and a message.

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.

I don't know how to do that - I don't know anything about computers really!

Thanks but it only seems to tell me what I've been doing already which is how to cancel each time it does it, not to stop it from doing it in the first place.

I've managed to find the scheduled tasks section, but I don't know how to search within it.

    This is an easy fix.

    1) Invite the "friend" over.
    2) Get BF to hold a cricket bat or golf club
    3) Ask BF's Friend politely to remove this "joke!"
    4) If he's not forthcoming with a fix you know what your BF should do... ^_~

    joking aside.. ^_~
how many items are in the Scheduled tasks?
Also look for a "autorun" folder looks like he's just added it to run when the machine starts
That's if it only happens once when you start the machine.
check "msconfig" (type it into the search box in the start menu.)
Go you "Startup" and see what's listed.
