  • I baked my cake yesterday and today it seemd not very soft, what should i do with it? At the moment i have it in a cake container.

    Thanks
  • I didn't think fruit cake *was* particularly soft? I might be wrong though, I don't really eat the stuff!
    Slummy mummy!
  • my husband made ours and it looks great I am going to marzipan it tonight and ice it tomorrow.
  • if you mean South Wales, then yes but I can't remember whether it was the main Barry Tesco, the express in the town or Culverhouse Cross where I saw them.

If you mean Barry anywhere else in the UK then I'm afraid I can't help you!

This is the first time I have ever baked a christmas cake, I made mine a few weeks ago and wrapped it away, but I have got it out to do the marzipan today and they top and sides really do feel quite firm? Is this how its supposed to be? I don't normally eat christmas cake at christmas either so I am really not sure if this is how it should be! I just hope it isnt as firm when we have a slice Xmas day, grandma might lose her teeth! :)

Did you leave it to cool completely before putting it into a tin/box/foil? Did you put the skewer/knife in at an angle (rather than straight down)
Anyone can cuddle but only the Welsh can cwtch :)
  • I'm a bit of a late starter on this thread... cake been in oven for 4 hours, decided to take first look and looks a tad burnt! Skewer is clean so have taken out to cool and just hoping for best!.... House smells lush though, just hope is edible!
