  • Would anyone be kind enough to give me the amounts needed of each item and the method as well if possible? I have everything in already so no need to buy the mix but I would love to make the cup cakes if nothing else. Thanks in advance.

I made the cupcakes - absolutely fantastic and went down a treat - totally fool-proof. I couldn't believe the amount of brandy you got!

Got mine delivered tonight in my first ever online grocery shop at Tesco. No cupcake mixture left though. I'll have a go with the Christmas cake this weekend. Fingers crossed it turns out ok. :)

Just made mine. It seems quite oily - could see it bubbling round the edges when I took it out.
Also, cooked in just over 2 hours, despite turning my oven down to just over 100. So scared of burning it, like I do many things :-(
    Now proud Mumto3 :j

mine is done, yeay! it took 4 hours on 140 degrees and it came out perfect. I was very surprised at the amount of dried fruit and brandy for the cakes. Cakes were made over the weekend and were eaten in a day! everyone loved them.

So wich is better sainsburys or Mary's?
  • Just bought the Sainsbury version for £2. It doesn't have icing, etc, but still well worth it as the price wouldn't even cover buying the fruit. And frankly I think it is worth £2 to avoid the faff of measuring out! Use by was February so even if you've already got a Xmas cake made, you've got the makings of a good fruit cake. I got a couple for my Mum who regularly cooks for charity coffee mornings.

I think it may be worth £2 just to make the house smell so nice!

The also had an icing pack for £3 with icing, marzipan, apricot jam, star cutters and silver ball things for £3.
