    glad to hear you have fessed up to your DH & all is well. Best of luck in your journey.
  • Well done on confessing, am sure you won't get that reaction your waiting on! Me and hubby started this DF journey about 3 months ago and we get so much satisfaction from seeing our debts go down and disappear, and 2 years is nothing when you think of how many years you'll have debt free and the advice on here is amazing and everyone is so helpful and really want to see you succeed in your journey. Godd Luck xx

    Thanks!!

    I feel much better for finally telling him - I might not actually end up being sectioned now :o
    However, we have the bank meeting today regarding mortgage so I dont think I will really relax until thats out of the way....

    Yeh I dont think I'll get the reaction I'm waiting for - we went shopping last night (just for bare essentials) and we were walking around and he kept saying "Ahh we can't afford this now" - so in the end I just said "I feel bad enough without the little comments every 5 minutes... " his reply: Awwww I still love you muppet but I have to make the comments cos you can't get away scott free"
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    I guess I can put up with little comments if it means less stress ha

  • Oh it wouldn't be the same without the manly essential "comments" if I am honest mine is still 5 years old stuck in the body of a 31 year old father of 2!! Buuuuut why not?? is 1 I hear often, its only £60 is another, we'll make it up next month. But I work all the time I deserve it. Bless him! just close your ears to it all, get your head down and you'll be smashing

    Hahahaha! Glad its not just me then..... but yes I agree with the 5yrs old stuck in the older body.... my DH is 39 but I swear sometimes I do wonder haha! TBH I close my ears to a lot of what he says haha. I know I'll get through it - just need to get the bank appt out the way today then I will hopefully know how much I have each month.... so tomorrow I can set my budget etc and then start my journey! woooo

    OK so DH now knows about my debt (well £24k of it anyway)!

    His reaction was the total opposite to what I was expecting.... I'm quite shocked. He was upset that I hadn't told him before, and said I should have been able to talk to him etc etc.

    And amazingly he is going to help me out.... went through our bills yesterday and he is cutting down on a lot of the stuff we pay that isn't really necessary... got a bank meeting tomorrow to try and change mortgage to interest only - if its accepted then going on what I earn, and the bills I have to pay it will take me 2 years to clear the 24k... but I might try and get a part time job after Xmas to pay the extra stuff off... so Xmas 2013 is my goal to be debt FREE :j

    Would he be so understanding if he found out you havent told him the truth ? How are you going to explain away the rest of the money you have to repay?

    Ideally September 3rd as it would be our 2nd wedding anniversary, but we'd be happy for the credit cards and overdrafts to be gone by then (and ideally the car loan) - the student loan is an ideal too but if that was gone by the end of next year that would be good enough for me. Unfortunately it's our second time clearing the debt, last time it took 9 months to clear £16,500 so I'm hoping to beat that this time, despite now having a mortgage and bills!
    Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81
    Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off
    Met NIM 23/06/2008
