after getting annoyed at the interest on my CC and how the balance had gone UP even though i've been overpaying by teeny amounts, I decided to put some of the extra money I have left after budgeting for some big events in the next couple of months onto my cc. So that's an extra £100 paid

    making it £119.79/£1000

    LBM: January 2012

Well done snailmail. But I'm worried how your balance is going up if you've been overpaying? Have you been putting new things on the card? I thought minimum payments always included all the interest incurred, otherwise you could never reduce the balance with just minimum payments...

No 36 again...just had to a PAD of 35.00 to make my debt now 14999...so glad to be in the 14's!! Also Ive now paid 53% of total debt and have worked out since Dec 10 have paid 16944...what could I have done with that money???
I need to get this debt paid off asap in light of the cancer diagnosis as this is a secret debt...hubby has never known and if the worse came about I do not want him to be saddled with it.Im feeling positive but I have to think about the worse case scenario as well so another very important reason to pay this off asap.
Happy Friday all....now onto the 13's!!

£453 on my overdraft, and my regular loan payment went out today too.

    New total £4071/£8500 :T
  • Great news! I had a far smaller one at just under £300 from car gap insurance when they sent me a garbled letter, called them to see what they were wanting, they asked me 3 questions then gave me my money plus 8% interest back, result.

Gap insurance? I didn't realise you could claim that back. We've never had PPI so these companies phoning telling me that I can claim thousands back and then asking me if I'm absolutely sure I've never paid it don't get the politest answers! But I know DH had gap insurance on our old car as that was only a few months old, and I expect the car before that as that one was brand new. How do you go about claiming that back?

I'm almost at the £800 mark, current total is £796.12/£2000.

That's £15 paid off the Very today and Cap1 statement came out today, cleared £24.57. I do hate how much comes off compared to how much is paid but needs must and if cars need fixing, they need fixing unfortunately. Besides robbing the post office not an awful lot of choice. I'm expecting to get them pretty much paid off when we get a major breakdown.

    Hi everyone

Just popping in about the 'working out your debt free date' - its actually something i've never done :o:o:o

i've just looked at my debts and gone right this is what i owe this is how i'm going to raise the money :o i'm wondering if it would be good for me to look at the properly calculated way - or if it would scare me too much by saying extremely futuristic year when i'm thinking august this year :o Alot of my target does rely on me earning extra in order to achieve it and as i'm no longer working p/t as well as f/t i have lost a chunk of income :(

I would say got for it DDFW. The snowball calculator is dangerously addictive :D You get on there and then start thinking 'what if I pay £1 extra per month?, then £5 extra, £10 extra,' it's good fun to play with!

Hey everyone, tomorrow is payday and I'm paying the last £89 off my laptop on my Very account. That means I will be officially 'debt-free' tomorrow! It feels really weird to think I joined this site in August 2010 with about 6-7 grand hanging over me. I think joining in this challenge has been one of the biggest factors in paying it off, so thank you jwil and all other challengeers!

    Well done :T :j :T :j You've done fantastically well :)
