iPhone 4 or 4S?!

  • I can't comment on the 4s yet myself (still waiting for the gremlins from apple to deliver it), but for the sake of an extra £80 and that extra year of longevity...
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!
  • I recently upgraded from ip4 to 4S (gave the ip4 to my missus) and can honestly say the A5 chip is noticeably quicker. Forget about Siri, the 8mp camera...just the fact that you're getting signficantly better hardware is a good enough reason to upgrade straight to the 4S. Also at a later stage chances are some apps won't work on the 4, only on the 4S due to the superior hardware :)
  • Imagine the scene...

Iphone 4 vs Iphone 4s in a stand off...

The Iphone 4 looks.. gives the 4s the death stare..

The 4s on the other hand, activates siri and shouts the battle cry

    "I WILL DESTROY YOU... sir"

*achem* perhaps I should do some work now :D

I would really go for the 4S - especially so if you are going for a 24 month contract. Best to have a 2 year old phone at the end of the term rather than a handset over three and a half years old. Not only because it will be more up to date, but because it will have better resale value.

Every time you pickup the 4 it normally drops a bar (Even with a case on).
Mine doesn't. I've just taken the case off, and tried holding it every possible way, I can't get it to budge from 5 bars (the max). I've never had it drop calls except when on a train and going into tunnels.

It is sometimes possible to get the number of bars to drop if you take the case off and hold it in a particular way if you are in an area with worse reception though.

    I'd still say get a 4S though.

Unless you've already got a 4 or that you get a deal where the 4 is substantially cheaper, I'd go 4S.
It's not just the camera, but web surfing is faster also, the screen is comparitively better to watch things on (try it and see yourself) and overall performance is better (although not always noticeable).
  • Sorry to drag up an old thread but thought I should update. I went for the 4S and have loved every bit of it! OK Siri isn't the most helpful thing in the world (When you can do more in the UK it might be helpful) it is still great fun to play with! Really quick and good camera. Many thanks for all the help and advice and for anyone asking the same I would say 4S if money isn't the most important factor.
