  • It is six years from when the default entry was issued.

Have a look at this link, as it is possible to get default notices removed. I have done this myself and it works.

A couple of weeks ago I contacted experian to ask if I could remove 2 notices of correction from my file. This morning I received this reply:

    Dear

Thank you for your query received on 24 March 2008.

I am adding the following statement from your credit report, as requested:

"THE ACCURACY OF THIS DATA HAS BEEN DISPUTED BY THE INDIVIDUAL CONCERNED AND WE HAVE NOW CONTACTED THE SUBSCRIBER. CARE SHOULD THEREFORE BE TAKEN WHEN USING THIS ITEM OF DATA TO ASSESS THE CREDITWORTHINESS OF THE INDIVIDUAL CONCERNED."

Your report will change in the next seven days. Please use this correspondence if you need proof in the meantime. I am telling all the companies that have searched your credit report in the last six months of the change to your information.

So does this mean that they've contacted the companies which I hold the accounts with before removing them?

Also I've applied for a Flex Account with Nationwide and a savings account with Egg. The Egg one is opened and is showing under my accounts on their site, and I'm waiting to sign/confirm ID with the Nationwide, do you think that this will affect my chances of getting the Flexaccount? Sorry about the long post, I'm a bit green when it comes to getting stuff removed from my Credit File.

    Thanks

 I wanted to get copies of my credit report from the 3 agencies, I paid for the triple report from checkmyfile. I have 2 CCJs both satisfied and several defaults some satisfied so still paying. The Callcredit and Equifax reports came back showing all correct details, however the Experian one says I have an excellent credit score of 730 (when acutally is is only about 195) no CCJS and no Defaults - what is going on? I have sent an E-mail to checkmyfile and am awaiting my reponse. Has anyone else had this problem with them. So I have now gone direct to Experian and because they won't accept Solo or Electron I cannot register for their service so I am now awaing a paper report which I paid £2 for.

Also I would like to know if anyone has successfully had defaults removed from their credit files which are settled but are still showing because they are within the 6 year limit. If so, how did you do it?

    Thanks

    Good luck!

what's the process for getting a default removed on a mobile contract? All default removals have been for credit cards and mobiles aren't covered under the CCA!

Are you sure that mobiles are not covered? I am pretty certain that you would still be able to dispute that the default has not been issued properly. Furthermore, in order for a default notice to have been filed that your contract would be covered by the CCA.

  • Does changing to another flat in the same building (same postcode, name, etc) count as a change of address?? my details have remained exactly the same (phone number, etc) and the only part that changes on my address is 34 instead of 32 (didn't go too far eh):A

I'm just afraid that this would hurt my credit score as I have been living in the same address for 1 year and 9 momths now. Moving to another flat in the same building would start the 2 years period in the same address rule that some credit lenders ask for?

Many thanks to all of you

I checked my credit score via Credit Expert after my Cahoot loan recently settled. I wanted to make sure that the info about that had been accurately passed to the CRAs. It has, and interestingly it appears that since this was settled, my credit score has gone up by about 120. There have been other positive additions in that time such as regular payments on a credit card, but the difference of 120 points happened over such a short period of time, that the bluk of it, must simply be down to successfully closing off that particular credit account.

I'm still about 60 points or so from getting out of 'Poor' into the 'Fair' category, but I can really see the progression from 2 years ago when I was at about 425/1000 and well in the 'Very Poor' category.

Just my tuppence worth for information!
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

seelphed_vr, board guidelines suggest being polite to people, and that there is no such thing as a stupid question.

you have just proved that to be utterley wrong.

OF COURSE MOVING TO ANOTHER FLAT NEXT DOOR IS A NEW ADDRESS:mad:

If I moved into my neighbours house, I would have to class it as a new address.

I'm curious as to why you would want to move next door; is it bigger ?

On every credit app you make now, you need to list the new address as your current address, and then probably give them your old address next door as your previous address. Don't lie on any application, or you could end up like the person in this thread, with a CIFAS warning against your address.

However, if I was a credit underwriter, I would see the 2 addresses next door to each other and thing something suspicious was going on (just because it is unusual), so it might cause you some problems anyway.
Karma is a wonderful thing. ;)

    Dear all,

I too am in the process of asking for defaults to be removed from my credit file. Would be keen to know if anyone knows of good legal firms for this? I know you can do it yourself, but I think sometimes the weight of legal people may help.
