LOL! who rattled your cage!!! i have infact had joy, ive been offered
600mins, 1gb internet and unlimited texts for £27 with no price increase guarenteed, which is better than my current plan and £5 cheaper!!! I was mearly asking about other peoples experience, on a public forum, how rude of me ;)

Ahhh... that is a tariff change, which is different. You may have been entitled to that anyway.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

    Please sign the petition epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/24895
I called Orange regarding this price hike however was told the usual of the script RPI and CPI. The first lady tried alot to fend my arguements off by reading the script then said I am going to speak to my line manager. The line manager then spoke to me who was cocky who asked what the problem was eventhough it was blatant she was away for a few minutes and she told him the whole story so I said well surely you have been told? Err Price Hike. He also read off the script although my persistent questioning was troubling them quite abit. Then I understood he did not have the authority to give me a refund for the increased amount for the duration of the contract. I asked to speak to a manager who wasnt available apparantly. The customer reps are trying their hardest eventhough they struggle to understand what a contract is and the intention to sign a contract where the price does not increase can void a contract whether it says in the terms or not. I was told if I was within the 14 days then I could cancel the contract as I wasnt I had to pay a termination fee;I replied that you should have pre judged the inflation and charged extra from the beginning when I took out the contract 8 months ago. Annoying but need to ring again as the scripts are read out as if its a defence continously; I have already heard the CPI and RPI sooo many times atleast tell me something which I dont already know!!!

I guess loyalty doesnt count anymore; rather switch when the contract ends whilst a few other contracts are ending with Orange soon; they will lose atleast £900 per year whilst they charge me £17 extra for the remainder of the contract. Then we will see who is laughing :D

I will be using the following as my arguement which has been mentioned before. I was told that any mistake in the terms and conditions i.e. contract can result in making a contract void; one of which is in Clause 4.3.1 CSO does not exist as of 1st April 1996 and they are retrieving inflation rates from ONS. Therefore it is a major flaw as the increase cannot be made as they do not recieve any inflation rate publications from CSO but ONS. For a contract to be void there is a mistaken identity of the contracting party. So who is the CSO?? Never heard of them.

I believe the Orange Legal Team will have problems fighting off this arguement eventhough the material detriment complaints are being thrown in the bin. They are trying very hard although persistence will make Orange to drop the price increase especially if we all dedicate the same few days of complaining non stop; that will keep them busy.

If there are any mistakes then do let me know.

Time with network loyalty counts for nothing it's all about your average spend per month these days.

Orange will. How many people will accept this? Most of them, rising prices are a fact of life. The few people who threaten to leave (thousands at most) will be replaced by customers from other network in some cases, or many will have forgotten this by the time it gets to upgrade time.

Remember the other networks are doing it too, so it's not as if moving to another network will prevent this happening again.

The price rise was announced 2 weeks ago, so far they've done a pretty good job of saying no to everyone. If you want to take them to court and set a precident go for it. Remember it's true the other way, if you take them to court and lose then it also sets the precident that the increase is legal and would apply to everyone.

Good luck with the petition, my personal feeling is this is a business decision by Orange and as it's within the RPI permitted although unwanted by most. As the regualtors will not intervene, which seems to be what Ofcom are saying to people so far, I don't see how a petion will help, the goverment will simply refer to Ofcom who will reject it as out of their terms of reference.

No. The following scenario will happen.

As Orange is inherently French owned and its partner T-Mobile German, then when sufficient signatories to the petition - say 26 - then David Cameron will personally veto the increase. ;)
  • Am I the only one that got a text yesterday saying it was all a mistake and there will be no price increase??? i emailed complaining and got the text the next day

There have een a few posts like this. Some tariffs were not subject to the increase, so it could be they sent to all and are not soting out the few who were not going to get an increase.

When did you move onto your current tarriff?

    Oh dear where to begin.

Well let me start and finish with no matter how many times you ring and speak to their Customer Service and explain to them that they do not understand how a contract works (lol) It's not going to make the blindest bit of difference.

Do you expect them to suddenly go off script and say "Hey your right I am pretty stupid and don't understand contracts, That's why I work in a call centre, Let me just cancel your price increase" Hahaha.

Try and be a little less condescending next time. It might actually help your cause.

From my past experience OFCOM need to be sacked; dont see what they do at all, if you ever have a problem they always say oh we suggest you to go court; err well the reason I contacted you was to avoid going court. Rather combat the problem ourselves; they are being paid for just sitting there stating the obvious OFCOM needs an overhaul.

Also you should complete the petition as this does not apply to Orange customers only but for all the customers to combat the companies policies. If anyone does switch then it is applicable to those providers also. Would you rather just sit there and say oh well I'll accept the price increase? I definately would not.

I would believe that when the inflation rate does drop then effectively they would need to drop their increase eventhough many would forget.

And Yes I would rather have them go off script so I take an advantage and get everything refunded as they do not know what to say. I got the line manager to go off script for a few questions to which he had problems answering. Although it may seem I was condescending however im not that kind of a person.

Sorry but if your coming across as condescending to the call centre person how on earth would they want to "go off script" and risk a warning or even a job loss to save you £2 a month??
