  • Hi guys,

I received my text from Orange yesterday...and well....what can I say....like most of you i'm fuming. In principle I think I am disgusted with the fact that Orange can implement this change while thousands of us are already in a contract term.

Has anyone had any luck with them over this issue? Is there any loophole in the contract which could mean I could cancel with them?

    Dear Mr McHugh

Well i have been with orange now for Many years i feel i must send you this email because i have just had a text saying my bill would go up by 4.34% !! what sounds like it is not fair as we have a written contact.

However this does not sound fair to me as the price increase means that I will now be paying more than your new customers and getting less ( they get all kind of extras I don't such as sky sports, streaming TV etc. etc...)

So how is that fair? OK I know its only a few pounds here & there or so in the grand scheme of things but if you are raising my price to make it more in line with their newer customers surely I should be getting the same benefits?.

as i have been a loyal customer but i will not be with orange soon if this carries on, or if orange can not match what us the old loyal customers have with the new customer extras.

You DO know you can move to one of the newer plans, don't you?
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
  • I think rather than everyone writing letters, threatening to leave just speak to CS and see if you can get a discount on your plan or move like simax said to one of the newer ones where you will probably get more minutes, more data etc.

Also if you are not using your minutes then a downgrade should certainly be possible and then even with an increase your monthly bill will be lowered in line with your usage.

Orange won't want to lose customers so use this as a bargaining chip to get a better deal WITHOUT leaving.

Unless you are saying it won't cause material detriment, in which case you would not be able to cancel under General Conditions 9.6 anyway. Which would make the email a pointless exercise. Sorry.

i wouldnt be interested in this at all,

if when i took out the contract which im on £40. odds per month they said it would be £42.odds then i wouldnt have done so, i moved from a 18m contract to 24m contract and
i ended up paying £10 more per month for the privilage, my package is the same in terms of mins and txts and my data has gone from 1meg to 500mgb, i had no more money to keep my contract going im maxed out at £40 per month, yes im using the data and the mins so downgrading is not what i want, if i could have made do with a lesser package i would have done so at renewal,

i feel orange are a bunch off rip off merchants who dont care in the slightest about customer service, i had my broadband with orange for years yes that service was given to me for free but boy did it come with its problems, i have spent what feels like years on the phone to india with no solutions to any problems i have had, that was always there key to me staying with orange as i didnt have any money to take bb with another provider,
just in the last month i had an offer to have my bb for free for 6 months and then only a few punds afterwards which i have now done and i am problem free now,

there is nothing to keep me loyal to orange anymore, my reception is no existant due to there service constantly ending calls while it trys to deside which network it should hook up to, yes that can be switched off but then why should you, if orange/tmobile got there heads together surely they could have sorted this problem by now.
theres nothing more frustrating than your call being ended over and over again,

im not interested in any discounts i would rather give it up, they are breaking contract so sorry no ifs or buts my aim is to end and leave,

    rant over

I renewed my contract 18 days ago. Yesterday I received the text message telling me it is going to increase by 4.34% from July 2012.
How can they increase the contract by RPI on 18 days in? Surely they would have to wait until a year after the contract started and then increase the contract by RPI between November 2011 and November 2012.
  • Just got a load of old flannel from the customer services... "I'm the bills bit, can't help you with that. Complaints department are offline, you can't speak to them and we can't give you name of complaints manager (para)"

Cancelled my Orange Plan - saves £6+VAT a month. That was easy! *shock*

Going to send that letter someone posted on here. Checked it with my housemate who is a solicitor. He say's its spot on (expect bit about Communications Act - so going to leave that out).

i have 360 days left before i can upgrade my contact & about 1 & a half years left in my contact with them :o

so do i have to ring or can i do it online as there web site & my account is going !!!!!! slow ( i wonder why he-he ).

its all a pain in the !!!, as it would be good to end with them & then join o2 but i do not want to pay for ending my contact as it is there fault with the bill raise etc.....
  • Orange account online going super slow, just like there broadband does,
  • I'm only a newbie, but just a thought, surely if you got your contract from carphone warehouse, the contract lies with them. if its £30/month written, then it stays at £30/month unless carphone warehouse inform you in accordance with their t's and c's?
