Morning all

Banging headache today and coughing like mad. After pain killers at 4.30 7.30 and 9.30 (different sorts) the headache receded enough for me to clean the bathroom and toilet. I also got the toiletries box out of the airing cupboard and put it all straight where "nobody" had been rummaging around. And I tidied the medicine cupboard (again) and found some cough sweets I'd forgotten about so they will be useful for while I'm at work when it's not always possible to sit down and have a drink!

I'm going to get off the computer now before I bring the headache back. Back later :)

Hello everybody. I used to follow this thread but fell by the wayside when life got a bit tough and stayed a bit tough for 18 months or so. Things are getting back on track now but I need some structure so I'd like to come back if I can. I've just got to pick up DS and then I'm setting to work.

Meant to say welcome back. x

How did DH kill the dishwashers? Can you retrain him? If not, allow him to load/unload or wash by hand, but not press the on/off button ever...

He puts dinner plates on the top deck then yanks it out too far - resulting in a permanently collapsible top deck (ooerr).

I'm not sure about retraining, he thinks he's a DW expert, that's the problem with delegation;)
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x

Hello everyone, I've been a busy flylady and have done quite well with the lists.

DH took the day off on Tuesday and we braved Bluewater to do our Christmas shopping. I think we are about 90% Done.

DS2 has caught a horrible gastroenteritus bug. No doubt he is still low from the Pneumonia. He was off school on Tuesday (DD1 was holding the sick bowl at home). His school was shut yesterday so he had another day to recouperate. He is still feeling delicate but has gone in today. I'm home most of today so if school ring I will go and pick him up.

DD1 has her driving test a week today so we are going for a little drive around the test routes. It's her birthday tomorrow. My baby girl is going to be 20!!! Where did all the years go....

DS1 has repeated his behaviour of earlier in November and has moved out to stay with DH's parents. The disruption he creates impacts on the whole family and it is not good for the little ones to see his outbursts. I spent alot of yesterday in floods of tears and woke up at 3.30 to stare at the ceiling for the next 3 hours. My pillow is soaked because I've cried so much, I am feeling so low, I just don't know what to do for the best and feel like I am losing the plot.

Tries and fails to pull herself together - I'm going to tackle the Living room now and I must wrap some christmas presents.

Mumto5 Just read about your DS1 and my thoughts really are with you. I don't know what his previous behaviour was but I do know how much heartache sons can cause. My own son has caused me many a sleepless night but everything is OK now. I used to blame myself but I don't anymore as eventually he really has turned out fine. I think he just grew up. Think positive and I hope things improve for you soon..

Mumto5 (((HUG))) I know there's nothing I can say to make it all better for you, but just know that I care.:o

Grateful I think in your situation, I'd do all DW duties myself, and give DH another grotty job all of his own, one where he can't break anything, to compensate. Dustbin duty, perhaps?:D

Good morning everyone. I'm feeling inspired by you all so thanks for that. Any tips for getting my 25 year old DS out of bed and off to work? He works for himself so can't even threaten him with the sack!
 Cold soggy flannel round his earhole? Whip the covers off and cold soggy flannel somewhere more sensitive?

OK, I've done a WM load of Mr LW's clothes again!! How is it he makes so much more washing than I do?

Let's have a look what's on the lists - Mr LW's on half day's leave tomorrow, so I need to try and get ahead if possible; not sure how that'll go as my shoulder is sheer agony today.:(

If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
• DH has built the cotbed after I had a huge tantrum with the shop we bought it from mainly due to the attitude of the girl on the phone and her then hanging up on me  how is it acceptable to spend *that* much money on a cotbed to have them not provide essential pieces for the underbed storage unit and think its ok to wait weeks for them to be back in stock (bearing in mind it was a 6 week wait to get this delivered). They are couriering out a replacement drawer tomorrow from a very slightly different package, but it looks the same and the dimensions are the same so i am happy with that result.

Dh has also put the tree up for me, we got a bargain in tesco. £25 6ft fiber obtic pre lit tree down to £12.50, but they charged me full price, so got double the difference refund back :D very very happy with that.

not done much flying this morning, in fact done none, so after had some lunch will do some pottering round the kitchen and do the ironing i have and then chill out.

Much, to my amazement, the gumshield thingummiwotsit stayed in all night (must have been clamping down on it :)) and I woke up feeling better than usual nice and early today.

Was just going to stumble into the shower once Minion departed for school, but decided to have a go at the kitchen again. So, at 8 this morning, I was scrubbing the worktops and,
having mopped the shower room and all through downstairs - despite kitten induced delays (he has decided that dustpans, brushes and mops are ideal tools for development of ninja assassin skills - ever had to tip a kitten out of a longhandled dustpan with every sweep of the brush?),
brushed and combed a very unhappy longhaired cat (and been told exactly what she thinks of me for doing so),
unloaded and reloaded the DW
emptied the nasty washing machine drawer and put it in the DW, along with scrubbing the inside of the drawer with vinegar and bicarb and cleaning the seal again
cleaned all the cupboard fronts and appliances
reloaded the WM
Unloaded the TD
Washed up remaining things by hand
Tightened up screw on wok handle
Picked up Minion's carp from the living room - all of it
Gone around picking up scraps and bits from everywhere
Emptied the bins
Cleaned 1 litter tray (No 2 is upstairs and will be done this afternoon)

and generally worked my little socks off,

The ninja kitten is now sleeping exhausted on my collarbone and I have sat down with my first cuppa of the day. And two hefty painkillers, as faffing around with my jaw seems to be giving me a migraine.

EDIT: Ninja kitty has fallen off my collarbone and is now unconscious curled up on my left forearm. I am paralysed.

Ah yes, and I think I may have got the hob slightly too wet when cleaning last night's curry off it. One of the sparky things is now sparking regularly. As it's about 15 months old, it's out of warranty, and I think it might just be water that needs to dry out. So I've switched it off at the isolation switch and will be having jacket spuds tonight, so it has plenty of time for drying out.

I shall ease ninja kitty off my arm in a bit, finally get my shower and hopefully find some clothes that haven't self destructed with age upstairs. (The wardrobe is looking a little bare, as I have been getting rid of ruined items, not hanging on to them for the sake of it). Then it's bass and then back for cleaning upstairs.

Oops. Ninja kitty is quite tired and had begun to slip some more. He's now on his back with his head hanging downhill, making Tribble sounds. I wish I could get a photo. Hang on. We have the webcam. [faffs around one handed]
