:rotfl: :T I actually thought of this - I was thinking of a voodoo doll that she could attach the picture to, but a bit scared of what may happen with this.

I've just found some posh tissues at waitrose that have soothing camomile in them, and some pretty ones with flowers on them too.

If mum is THAT stressed at work that she is crying - why is she still there? NO job is worth that! I would post her CV online and find her a nicer job!

No mention of bubble wrap for stress relief?! What on earth's the matter with you all? :p Very effective and very :money:

On the more expensive side I'd recommend one of these:

Maybe some camomile tea as well as her usual tea.

I used to have one of these: http://www.hawkin.com/20670-04767/stretchy-smiler in my desk at work, and they sell lots of other little stress ball/reliever type toys too. :)
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

How about a humoourous survival kit? My Brownies and Rainbows made one for their mums this year on Mother's Day, and quite a few mums loved them. You have to include a list to say what each item respresents.

    Ideas include:
    * candle - to remind you to shine brightly
    * plaster, blutack or stick of chewing gum - to remind you to stick to it
    * Starburst - to give you a burst of energy when you need it
    * Smartie - for days when you don't feel smart
    * marble - for when you lose yours
    * penny - so you can never say you are broke
    * paper clip - to keep things together
    * jigsaw piece - without you, things wouldn't be complete
    * smiley face - to keep you smiling
    * crayon - to colour your day
    * mint - because you are worth a mint to me
    * a pack of jacks - because she is expected to be jack of all trades
    * rubber band - a reminder to stay flexible
    * magnifier - to remind yoiu not to blow mistakes out of proportion
    * lollipop - to lick the tough times
    * glitter - to remind you to look on the bright side
    * salt - because you are the salt of the earth
    * button - because sometimes you have to button your lip
    * nail file - to smooth things over
    * sponge - to soak up trouble

Choose the ones you think best, then package them into a small, pretty box or organza bag with the list and meanings.

My mum showed her friend the one we made at Brownies and her friend (in her 70s) is now making her own versions for each of her three children as a fun Christmas gift.

ETA: I've just seen your post about the mug - you could put everything in that because, despite her problems at work, in her personal life, her cup runs over with the love of her family. I know it might be a bit twee for some people, but there are many who like these kits and it can show a lot of thought.

Hope your mum is feeling better soon x

I tend to agree with you and told her that she should find a new job (I left a job for the same reason) - we spent a whole afternoon the other day looking for new jobs for her, but the trouble is, apart from the lack of jobs available, is that she's not far from retirement age, so people probably won't even consider her.

Thank you so much for this post - there are some lovely ideas in here, and I think I'm going to pinch some.
