Do you always just pay your bills even if you suspect that they are incorrect?

I see your point, and in answer no I don't but would query it with the provider not blaze it on the internet, sometimes people are careless and at that point the sympathy vote goes out of the window, realistically, the OP could have omitted about the handsets being stolen, as really it has little to do with the bill and the query, the issue is where is the £22 charge from and is it valid?

Wow. Thanks for the sage comments, however, I budgeted having a phone for two years at a fixed contract price getting a lot of usage out of it. The second phone, like the iPhone, was a gift and the bolt-on was an added expense to use it. It's great that you have the attitude that because I've spent money on something I use every day that I should throw away the rest I have, though.

I guess I'm as pathetic as you say!!

I wrote "I do find it pathetic that you can have two phones stolen in short a short time,"

    So don't twist the words!
What are the £22 call charges for , and are they valid? as the rest of the original post was unecessary and whether you like it or not provoked my reply in the manner that it came across.
To be honest I don't give a hoot about the stolen handsets, what I am concerned about is if you have a valid case of being unduly over charged on your most recent bill.

I just got my newest bill through from O2, and I've got £21.97 in additional charges for web usage which I really shouldn't have.

Back story on this is that I bought an HTC Desire at its release, including unlimited data, only for my Desire to get stolen as soon as I moved to Liverpool 3/4 months later. I then had a BlackBerry, for which I got the bolt-on needed for web usage - This then got stolen just after Christmas (as soon as I moved back to Liverpool, funnily enough), and I took the BlackBerry bolt-on off. I bought a £4 phone that day and was using it until last month, when my Dad gave me his old iPhone 3GS.

Now, the Internet didn't work immediately on it as the web settings were wrong. I took it into the O2 shop and explained my situation with my contract having been for an HTC Desire with unlimited web usage, and asked if I needed anything additional such as a bolt-on to get the equivalent on the iPhone. The girl asked the guy beside her, and they both told me that I only needed to change a line in the settings and everything would work A-OK - and it did! I asked to make sure that I didn't need a bolt-on and my web usage would still be free, and they told me that was correct.

Cut to now, I've got £22 in extra charges from using the Internet. (see: i.imgur.com/A5Thl.gif )

As a note though, I looked as my 'inclusive allowances' and there is no mention of web data there. (see: i.imgur.com/l4QdA.gif )

Could it be that they had possibly removed my web allowance upon getting/after removing the BlackBerry bolt-on? What can I do to fix this, and get the extra charges reversed? I made the point of asking the staff in the O2 shop to avoid this very situation. :(

Have you checked your bills to see whether you originally had inclusive data when you first took the contract out? Then see if this was removed when you added the Blackberry bolt on?

If you log onto your 'My O2' account you should be able to see what is included in your tariff in terms of minutes, texts and data and what you have been charged extra for.

Also, can't you go back to the O2 shop and query what they said in the first instance as they are the ones who appear to have misled you.
  • So here's what happened;
    1. You took out a contract that had a unlimited data bolt-on on your account.
    2. You changed to a newer tariff which included a chargable Blackberry data bolt-on, when you changed your tariff/bolt-on you would have lost the unlimited data.
    3. You asked to remove that data bolt-on (which was your data allowance) leaving you with web daily which can charge you at up to £1 a day if you used data.
    4. You used data at least 22 days out of the month.

I'd go back to the store and have a word with the store manager as it was the store who misinformed you (customer service will have no record of this) and unfortunately the charges are valid.
